Treat those as encoder targets, not proof that your Indian broadband can sustain them: YouTube advises 20% upload headroom, which means planning for about 14.4 Mbps or 20.4 Mbps of sustained upload, respectively. Test from the actual streaming location at the hours you intend to broadcast. For a replay archive, do not rely on one 24-hour session: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Choose bitrate by codec, resolution and frame rate
YouTube’s live encoder table specifies different recommended bitrates according to the incoming video codec, resolution and frame rate. The figures below are YouTube recommendations; they are not India-specific broadband measurements or a guarantee of image quality for every game. YouTube’s live encoder settings page does not show a publication year.

If your encoder supports AV1 or H.265 reliably, YouTube’s recommended target is lower than its H.264 target at each listed setting. Check codec support in your encoder and test representative gameplay, especially fast movement, before settling on a setting. The table gives ingestion recommendations; it does not promise that a particular codec will look equally good in every game or scene.
How much Indian broadband upload do you need?
Use sustained upload capacity as your benchmark, not the advertised download speed or a brief speed-test peak. YouTube notes that download speed is often higher than upload speed, shared network use can reduce the bandwidth available to a stream, and disruptions can interrupt connectivity. Its guidance recommends leaving 20% room and testing under realistic conditions. See YouTube’s streaming tips; the page does not show a publication year.

The arithmetic is the target multiplied by 1.2. It is a practical allowance based on YouTube’s headroom advice, not a guaranteed minimum: actual overhead, bitrate behavior and other network activity vary. If household devices or other users share the connection, test with their normal activity underway and allow for that use too.
No city, ISP, plan, connection type or measured sustained upload is specified here, so there is no sound basis for saying that Indian broadband generally will or will not support either 1080p60 target. Run repeated upload tests at the encoder’s location and during the hours the channel will operate, then check YouTube Live’s stream health. If it is unstable, reduce bitrate by stepping down resolution or frame rate to a setting in YouTube’s table and retest.

YouTube recommends Ethernet for streaming from a computer. A wired connection is sensible where available, but it cannot increase the upload capacity of your ISP plan or guarantee stability. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also advise testing and monitoring the stream.
Set the encoder for YouTube Live
Use YouTube’s supported protocol and encoder parameters as your baseline. Menu names vary by streaming software, so verify the equivalent options in your encoder rather than assuming a particular application layout.

- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP.
- Video codec: H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1, depending on encoder support.
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Stereo audio: AAC or MP3, with a recommended 128 Kbps audio bitrate.
These are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not settings that establish your network’s capacity. Confirm the chosen codec, bitrate, resolution and frame rate together in the encoder, and use the corresponding bitrate from the table above. YouTube’s encoder settings are the reference for these values.
Test a 24/7 gaming stream before relying on it
- Choose a target. Match your encoder’s codec and the desired resolution and frame rate to YouTube’s table. For example, 1080p60 calls for 12 Mbps with AV1/H.265 or 17 Mbps with H.264.
- Measure upload stability. Test from the streaming computer’s location, repeatedly and at intended operating hours. Apply the 20% planning allowance and account for normal network sharing.
- Use a wired connection where practical. Ethernet can avoid some wireless variability, but does not remedy insufficient ISP upload.
- Configure and test the feed. Set CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval (never above 4 seconds), then check representative gameplay movement and audio in the Live Control Room preview and monitor stream health.
- Keep an independent recording. Confirm that the local recording file is being written and remains usable; it is a backup if the stream or YouTube processing has a problem.
- Plan archive sessions separately from the continuous broadcast. If you need YouTube VODs, end sessions before they reach 12 hours and verify the archive and handoff behavior on your channel before depending on it.
Protect the replay archive on a 24/7 channel
A continuous live feed and a replay archive are separate goals. Bitrate affects the outgoing stream; session length affects the risk that YouTube captures it as a VOD. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” That guidance appears on YouTube’s archive live streams page; no publication date is shown.

For an archive you can count on, schedule sessions below 12 hours and retain a local recording as backup. The cited guidance does not establish whether ending and immediately restarting preserves uninterrupted viewer playback, or how every channel configuration behaves. Test the intended transition and confirm the resulting VODs rather than assuming a seamless archive handoff.

Before scheduling a replay, make sure you have rights to the game footage and all included audio, including music, overlays and third-party clips. A live bitrate setting does not address copyright or channel monetization eligibility. Review the applicable YouTube copyright guidance and YouTube channel monetization policies. Repeatedly broadcasting existing footage is not by itself proof that a channel meets monetization rules; assess the content and applicable policy rather than assuming that a live format changes the rights or originality of the material.
