You usually do not need to end a live broadcast just to replace a video—but first identify which playlist you mean. A regular YouTube playlist and the media playlist feeding a cloud-hosted YouTube live stream are separate things. Edit the regular playlist on YouTube; edit the active stream’s media playlist in the cloud service that runs it. YouTube documents playlist edits, and Gyre says its playlist can be changed while a stream is running. Gyre’s published material does not establish exactly when the replacement begins playing, so verify the change rather than expecting it to take effect immediately.
First: identify the playlist you need to change
If you mean a playlist people browse on YouTube, make the change on YouTube. If you mean the queue of prerecorded videos that a cloud playout service is sending to a live event, make the change in that service. Editing one does not necessarily edit the other or alter what is currently on air.
- YouTube playlist: A collection of videos or Shorts organized on YouTube. Follow YouTube’s playlist editing instructions.
- Cloud stream playlist: The media queue assigned to a service that plays prerecorded videos into a YouTube live broadcast. The service, not YouTube’s ordinary playlist controls, manages that queue.
Replace a video in a regular YouTube playlist
- Open the playlist on YouTube.
- Find the video you want to replace and select More beside it.
- Choose Remove from [PLAYLIST NAME].
- Add the replacement video using YouTube’s playlist controls.
- Drag the replacement into the intended position if the sequence matters. YouTube documents removing videos or Shorts and reordering playlist items in its computer playlist help.
This updates the YouTube playlist. It is not, by itself, an instruction to change the media currently being sent to a live event by a separate cloud playout service.
Replace media in a cloud stream that is already running
Use the controls in the service that owns the live broadcast. Gyre describes a cloud workflow for uploading media, arranging files into a looping playlist and running continuous streams. In a Gyre article about its YouTube API automation, the company says a playlist can be changed while its stream is running. That is a vendor statement, not independent testing; it does not establish the exact current dashboard labels or when a replacement begins playing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Confirm the active service and playlist. In the cloud service’s account, identify the broadcast that is currently connected to YouTube and the playlist assigned to it. Do not assume that a YouTube channel playlist is the stream’s media queue.
- Make the replacement available. Add or select the replacement video in the service’s media library, following the controls currently shown in your account.
- Edit the playlist assigned to the running stream. Replace the old entry or adjust the queue as needed. Save or apply the edit if the service presents that option.
- Check the result in both places. Confirm the playlist and stream state in the service dashboard, then open the YouTube watch page to see what is being broadcast.
Do not promise that the new video starts immediately, after the current video, or at any other specific point: Gyre’s published material does not specify the transition timing. Nor should you assume every cloud service allows an active playlist to be edited. Check the service’s current controls and documentation.
Does replacing the video require stopping the live stream?
Not necessarily. Gyre says its playlist can be changed while its stream is active, so its described workflow does not require rebuilding the broadcast just to refresh its media. That claim applies to Gyre’s described workflow; it is not proof that every provider handles live edits the same way.

Ending an encoder feed is a different operation. YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” Do not end the broadcast as a routine playlist-edit step unless the service’s controls or a technical problem require it. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in that encoder guidance.
YouTube Live Redirect is also not a way to swap media inside an active broadcast: it sends viewers to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends. YouTube lists eligibility as more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes in its Live Redirect help.

Common problems and what to check
- The video changed on YouTube, but the broadcast did not. You may have edited the channel’s regular playlist rather than the cloud service’s media queue. Find the playlist assigned to the active stream in that service.
- The replacement does not appear in the cloud playlist. Check that the video was added to the service’s library and that you edited the playlist attached to the running broadcast. Save or apply the edit if prompted.
- The old video is still playing after the edit. The available Gyre material does not establish when a change takes effect. Verify the saved queue and watch page, then consult the provider’s current instructions rather than assuming an immediate switch.
- You are considering ending the broadcast to force the change. A playlist edit and ending a stream are distinct actions. Confirm that a restart is required by your provider before stopping the feed; ending it can interrupt viewers.
