You can keep an Indian ghazal playlist live on YouTube with OBS, but the first step is clearing the rights to every recording, composition, lyric, and visual you plan to use. Then enable YouTube Live in advance, test an unlisted broadcast, configure OBS with YouTube-supported encoder settings, and keep the computer, power, network, audio source, and monitoring available throughout the stream. A 24-hour broadcast is not guaranteed to become one complete YouTube replay.
Clear the music and visuals before you set up OBS
A ghazal recording can involve separate rights in the sound recording and in the underlying musical work and lyrics. Permission for one layer does not automatically establish permission for the others. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility on the person streaming to have the necessary rights for use on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. Read the YouTube Live Stream Terms and Conditions and identify the actual rights holders for your specific catalogue.
IPRS describes its remit as musical works and associated literary works, while sound-recording rights may be administered by recording owners. Its licensing guidance explains that separate permissions may be needed for those categories, and that its repertoire database may not be exhaustive. Its INTB tariff is scoped to non-interactive internet music streaming services; it does not, by itself, establish that a particular YouTube channel, playlist, or commercial arrangement is covered. If the rights or scope are unclear, get written, use-specific advice from the relevant rights holders and, where needed, an India-qualified music-rights professional.
Make a track-by-track clearance list
For every recording, document the recording owner, composition and lyric rights, the source file, territories, permission for continuous YouTube live use, archive playback, monetization terms, required attribution, and a contact for Content ID issues. Apply the same review to cover art, photographs, visualizers, background footage, and any text or artwork in the scene. A recording being available online or purchased for personal listening is not evidence that it is cleared for a continuous public broadcast.

Ask about Content ID allowlisting
Rights clearance and YouTube’s automated enforcement are separate. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID even if you have a licence. Contact the label, distributor, or other relevant owner before going live and ask whether your channel needs allowlisting. A licence alone may not prevent an interruption if the owner has not configured its system to recognize your channel. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Enable YouTube Live and rehearse before launch
- Enable live streaming early. For a first live stream, YouTube for Artists says to verify the account and enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned broadcast. Check the current account prompts in YouTube Studio; approval and availability can depend on the account.
- Coordinate with rights holders. Share the channel details and intended use with the label or distributor and confirm any Content ID allowlisting process. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music. Its Going Live for Music Channels guide also recommends a test broadcast.
- Schedule an unlisted rehearsal. Follow the current YouTube Studio Live Control Room prompts to create an unlisted test and connect the encoder. Check the audience playback, stream health, image, audio levels, title and description, and the rights-holder workflow before announcing a continuous channel.
Do not use a consumer music-service feed or rebroadcast another YouTube stream as a substitute for owning or obtaining the required permissions. Use authorized local audio files or another source whose continuous YouTube use is explicitly covered.

Build a simple, rights-cleared OBS scene
- Create the visual scene. Use a static image or gently moving background if that suits the channel. Only include artwork, photographs, text, and footage you are entitled to use for this broadcast.
- Add the authorized audio source. Add the cleared recording or playlist as an audio source in OBS. Set the source to repeat or loop if the source type and your OBS setup support it, then confirm that playback continues through the end of the list. The exact source controls depend on how you have organized your authorized files.
- Check the mix. Listen to the stream output, not just the local file. Check for silence between tracks, abrupt cuts, clipping, and unintended desktop or microphone audio. Make sure the playlist cannot run out during a continuous broadcast.
- Keep a local copy. Retain the authorized files and, if you need an archive, make a local recording or backup using storage sized for the chosen recording quality and duration.
Configure OBS to match YouTube’s encoder guidance
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, follow the current prompts for the stream destination and stream key. Enter the key only into the intended encoder, keep it private, and use the account’s current connection instructions. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS and lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video options, as well as AAC or MP3 audio. Available choices depend on the encoder and account workflow; use a profile YouTube currently accepts rather than assuming every OBS installation exposes every codec.
In OBS’s streaming/output settings, use a constant bitrate (CBR) profile and a two-second keyframe interval where those controls are available. YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. For an audio-led ghazal channel, 1080p or 720p is generally sufficient for a simple visual; higher resolution is not a requirement for the music itself.

These are YouTube’s published H.264 guidance values, not results of a test for your connection. The same page lists 128 kbps for stereo audio and recommends two-second keyframes, not over four seconds. Check the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for other resolutions, frame rates, and codec-specific values. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain consistently; a brief speed test is not proof that the connection will remain stable all day.
Run the stream and plan for continuous operation
With a local OBS workflow, the broadcast depends on the computer and OBS process, the power supply, internet connection, audio source, and a person or monitoring setup able to respond to problems. Keep the sending computer and network available, confirm the broadcast is live in YouTube Studio, and assign someone to respond to stream-health warnings, rights notices, dropped transmission, or an exhausted playlist. A UPS may help with a short power interruption, but it does not solve an internet outage or guarantee a continuous public stream.

YouTube provides a developer overview of the broadcast lifecycle in Life of a Broadcast. The official sources do not establish a guaranteed maximum continuous runtime for an OBS computer or an uptime guarantee for a creator’s setup. Treat continuity as an operational responsibility, not a platform promise.

Do not rely on YouTube to save one complete replay of a 24-hour stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its archive live streams guidance recommends keeping a local backup. If a complete replay matters, record locally and plan separate broadcasts or recordings that stay below the 12-hour threshold; even then, retain your own backup.

Common problems and what to check
- The live broadcast is unavailable when you try to start: for a first-time stream, verify the account and enable live streaming in advance, then follow any current YouTube Studio account prompts.
- YouTube interrupts the stream or shows a copyright warning: check the specific track or visual, contact the relevant rights holder, and confirm that the channel has been allowlisted if required. A general licence does not necessarily configure Content ID enforcement.
- The stream health is poor or playback stutters: lower the selected resolution or bitrate to a level the upload connection can sustain, confirm CBR is selected, and inspect the computer and network while the rehearsal is running.
- The picture works but the music is silent or stops: check the OBS audio source and stream mix, then verify the playlist’s repeat behavior and that the authorized files remain accessible.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording and keep the broadcast segments shorter if a YouTube archive is needed.
- The stream drops while the computer is unattended: check the encoder process, power, internet, and source playback, then restart through the current Live Control Room workflow. A local OBS setup requires a person or monitoring arrangement to notice and address failures.
