You can keep a YouTube channel live around the clock by sending a playlist of pre-recorded, rights-cleared videos through either a local encoder or a cloud playout service. Before you start, confirm the channel is eligible to livestream, set the audience accurately in YouTube Live Control Room, and plan for the features YouTube disables on Made for Kids streams.
Before you build the stream: clear rights and check eligibility
Confirm you can use every part of the playlist
Check the rights for each video and for every included song, sound recording, image, and other element. YouTube’s livestream terms make the content provider responsible for having the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing, and for complying with applicable laws. Permission to upload a video does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it continuously as a livestream. Keep records of licenses and permissions for the material you use.
Make sure the channel can livestream
YouTube Help’s guidance reviewed on October 3, 2026, says the channel must be verified and have no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It also says livestreamers must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current eligibility in YouTube before planning a launch; policies and interface details can change.
Choose how the prerecorded videos will reach YouTube
There are two practical approaches: run an encoder on a computer that sends the playlist to YouTube, or use cloud playout that runs uploaded videos remotely. YouTube’s encoder tools guide lists cloud services for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, including StreamNeo, Gyre, and Upstream. A listing is not an endorsement or a waiver of your responsibility for content rights, audience settings, or policy compliance.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Approach | What it involves | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud playout | Upload or select videos in a service, arrange a playlist, connect it to YouTube, and start the broadcast. | Check the current workflow, pricing, account permissions, monitoring, recovery behavior, and terms for the service you choose. A cloud service can avoid keeping a dedicated broadcast computer running, but compare its actual controls and operating details. |
| Local encoder | Keep an encoder computer and its internet connection running while it sends the playlist to YouTube using your stream key. | You control the encoder setup, but the computer, software, and sustained upload connection must remain available. Allow bandwidth headroom and monitor stream health. |
Cloud services listed for prerecorded playout
- StreamNeo: YouTube-only cloud playout for uploaded videos; one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with the first day free. See StreamNeo for the service details.
- Gyre: YouTube lists it among tools for 24/7 streams of prerecorded video. Gyre describes cloud looping without a dedicated PC. Confirm its current capabilities, pricing, limitations, and terms directly with the provider.
- Upstream: YouTube also lists Upstream for this use. Its help documentation describes YouTube Connect and a manual RTMP-key connection path. Confirm the current workflow and service terms with the provider.
The available material does not establish comparative reliability figures or a universally best service. Compare whether a service supports the playlist or schedule you need, how it connects to YouTube, what monitoring and recovery it offers, and its full operating cost.
Set the stream up in YouTube Live Control Room
- Prepare the playlist. Check that each file plays correctly from beginning to end, that the sound is intelligible, and that transitions do not leave unintended gaps or expose material you lack rights to rebroadcast. Arrange the videos in the order you want viewers to encounter them.
- Create the livestream. In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live to enter Live Control Room. Set up the stream there and follow YouTube’s current prompts for the title, visibility, and other details.
- Set the audience. In the stream’s audience settings, indicate whether it is Made for Kids. Preschool learning content is specifically among YouTube’s examples to consider; intended audience, child-directed language, early education, songs, and stories are also relevant factors. Make the designation based on the content and audience, rather than relying on automated classification.
- Connect the playout method. For a local encoder, copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube into the corresponding encoder fields. For a cloud service, use its YouTube connection workflow or enter the stream key manually if that is the supported method. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and replace it if you believe someone else has access.
- Test before going public. Run a representative part of the playlist and check the picture, audio, stream health, and audience setting in YouTube. Keep the test private or unlisted if that suits your launch plan, then use YouTube’s current controls to make the stream public when ready.
Run the playlist from a local encoder
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings rather than a guessed preset
YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP. Its encoder guidance also specifies codec and bitrate recommendations by resolution and frame rate, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval. The reviewed materials do not provide the numerical bitrate values, so choose the current recommendation shown in YouTube’s encoder settings for the exact resolution and frame rate you intend to send. Do not copy a bitrate intended for a different output format.

Configure the encoder to send the playlist as the video source, set its output to the stream URL and key from Live Control Room, and use the recommended settings for that output. Confirm that the encoder’s selected video and audio sources are the files you intend to broadcast; accidental desktop, microphone, or camera capture can put unintended content on the stream.
Provide enough upload bandwidth and monitor the broadcast
YouTube advises allowing enough upload bandwidth for the total stream bitrate and leaving headroom. Other devices using the same connection can reduce available capacity. Test under realistic network conditions before relying on a local setup for continuous operation, then keep an eye on YouTube’s stream-health indicators and the encoder while it runs.

Apply the Made for Kids setting with care
A preschool learning channel is likely to be directed at children, but the creator is responsible for evaluating and designating each stream accurately. YouTube asks creators to indicate whether content is Made for Kids and identifies educational material for preschoolers among the factors to consider. Make the selection in Live Control Room and revisit it if the audience or programming changes.
For Made for Kids streams, YouTube says live chat and personalized advertising are unavailable; contextual ads may still appear. Other features are restricted too. Do not plan programming around live-chat participation or assume personalized-ad monetization will be available. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not provide a reliable figure for how much a particular creator’s revenue will change.

YouTube’s guidance is not a legal opinion on COPPA or on child-directed-content obligations in any particular jurisdiction; seek jurisdiction-specific advice if you need it.

- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the encoder or playout service is running, that the stream URL and key match the active stream in Live Control Room, and that the key has not been replaced. Re-enter the current credentials if needed.
- The stream disconnects or becomes unstable: Check the service or encoder status and the available upload bandwidth. For a local setup, look for competing network use and confirm that the computer and connection remain active. Review YouTube’s stream-health information before restarting.
- Video stutters or drops in quality: Compare the configured output with YouTube’s current recommendations for the chosen resolution and frame rate. Check bandwidth headroom and test a lower output setting if the connection cannot sustain the selected one.
- Audio is missing, too quiet, or out of sync: Check the source file and encoder audio selection, then play a representative segment through the complete path to YouTube before relaunching.
- The wrong audience features appear unavailable: Recheck the stream’s Made for Kids designation in Live Control Room. Some restrictions are part of that audience setting rather than a stream fault.
- A rights claim or policy issue interrupts the stream: Review the affected content and your documented permissions, including music rights. Remove or replace material you are not authorized to use; do not assume a previous upload cleared it for continuous live retransmission.

Budget for the full setup
A local encoder’s costs depend on whether you already have a suitable computer, the power it uses while running, and the internet connection needed to sustain the stream. Cloud playout replaces the need to keep a dedicated broadcast computer running, but service pricing and included limits differ. Compare the total cost and operating requirements rather than assuming one route is cheaper for every channel.
