YouTube’s documented Live Streaming API frame-rate values include 30 fps, 60 fps, and variable, but not 25 fps. That makes 30 fps the better-documented, platform-aligned choice—not a special YouTube rule for 24/7 broadcasts.
Why 30 fps is the safer documented choice
YouTube’s Live Streaming API lists 30fps, 60fps, and variable as inbound frame-rate options. It does not list 25 fps. If you are configuring a live encoder and must choose one of these two fixed rates, 30 fps matches YouTube’s documented fixed-rate options. See the YouTube Live Streaming API.
YouTube’s encoder-settings guide says frame rates up to 60 fps are supported and provides explicit bitrate recommendations at 30 fps. The general “up to 60” statement does not, by itself, confirm every individual rate below 60. Nor does the guidance set a separate frame-rate standard for a 24/7 stream. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Set the bitrate for your actual output
Frame rate is only one part of the encoder configuration. Bitrate recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the row matching your stream rather than carrying one figure across every setup. For example, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30. That figure applies to that specific codec, resolution, and frame-rate combination; consult YouTube’s encoder guide for other combinations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Configure and test a long-running stream
Use YouTube’s recommended encoder settings
- Set a constant bitrate (CBR).
- Use a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Choose the bitrate for your specific codec, resolution, and frame rate using YouTube’s settings table.
Test representative content and watch stream health
Before going live, test with audio and movement similar to the actual stream. YouTube’s Help guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” It also recommends choosing a reliable quality based on your connection, checking upload speed, and monitoring stream health during the event. A 24/7 stream makes sustained connection and recovery important; a frame-rate choice alone cannot establish that the stream will remain online.
What 25 fps does—and does not—tell you
There is no direct controlled 25-versus-30 fps comparison in the cited YouTube guidance for continuous live streams. It does not quantify a bandwidth saving from 25 fps or say that either rate guarantees uptime. Avoid choosing 25 fps on the assumption that it will save a known amount of bandwidth; the sources do not establish such a figure.

Apple’s HLS authoring specification lists both 25 and 30 fps among supported video-on-demand rates and advises using content’s natural frame rate for VOD. That is useful general context, but it is not a recommendation for YouTube live ingestion. YouTube’s separate HLS live-ingestion guide discusses support up to 60 fps and notes a trade-off: shorter media segments can reduce latency while increasing rebuffering risk and reducing encoding efficiency. That HLS guidance does not make 25 fps the right choice for a 24/7 stream.
