A mini PC can stream a finished church service to a scheduled YouTube Live event, but scheduling the event does not start the computer or play the video for you. The mini PC, encoder, service file, internet connection and power must all be ready at broadcast time. Set up the YouTube event, connect an encoder with its stream URL and key, rehearse with representative audio and motion, then start the encoder and select Go live in YouTube Studio.
This guide covers a local setup for a church in India without assuming that any particular mini PC is powerful enough. YouTube does not publish a minimum mini-PC specification for this workflow, and no specific India model or price is established here.
What you need for a local mini-PC stream
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream, with live streaming enabled.
- A finished service video stored on the mini PC or on storage it can reliably access.
- Encoder software configured to play the file and send its video and audio to YouTube Live.
- A stable internet upload connection, reliable power and adequate ventilation for the mini PC.
- An operator available to check the preview and start the scheduled event in YouTube Studio.
The computer does not need to be a gaming PC, but it must continuously decode the source video and encode or otherwise send the outgoing stream. The right capability depends on the file, chosen encoder and settings. There is no official YouTube minimum CPU, memory, GPU or storage specification for this use, so test the actual unit with the actual service file before relying on it.
Check YouTube channel eligibility early
Before buying or configuring equipment, confirm that the channel can go live. YouTube’s current Help guidance requires the streamer to be at least 16, the channel to be verified, and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Choose a mini PC without guessing at specs
Because the exact video, encoder and local network determine the workload, use a compatibility checklist rather than a generic minimum-spec claim. If possible, connect by Ethernet instead of relying on Wi-Fi and run a full rehearsal on the specific unit you intend to use.
- Video compatibility: Confirm the encoder can decode the service file’s format, resolution and frame rate, then sustain the intended outgoing encode.
- Storage: Keep the complete service file locally or on dependable attached storage, with room for the file and any other material the church needs for the event.
- Thermals and placement: Ensure the mini PC has ventilation and can run continuously without being enclosed or obstructed.
- Network and power: Check that the connection can sustain the chosen upload bitrate and that power will remain available throughout the service.
- Practical trial: Run the service or a representative section for the intended duration, using the same video, audio, network and encoder settings planned for broadcast.
No particular India price or currently available mini-PC model is verified here. Compare current local listings against these criteria and the encoder’s requirements rather than treating a low purchase price as proof of suitability.

Create or schedule the YouTube Live event
- Sign in to YouTube Studio for the church’s channel and open Create > Go live.
- Choose to schedule a stream or create the event in the Live Control Room. Enter the title and description, choose the audience and visibility, and set the date and time carefully.
- Use the scheduled event page to share the service link in advance. Scheduling can let viewers set reminders, but it does not turn on the mini PC, start the encoder or begin local video playback.
- In the Live Control Room, locate the event’s stream URL (server URL) and stream key. Copy them into the encoder’s YouTube output settings.
Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that stream. Do not publish it, show it in a screen recording or leave it visible in a shared document. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe connecting with the server URL and key.
Prepare the service file and encoder
Check the playback before broadcast
- Play the entire service file on the mini PC and verify the opening, ending, aspect ratio and sound.
- Listen on the equipment that will be used to monitor the broadcast; check speech levels and music transitions.
- Close unrelated apps and suppress notifications so desktop alerts or unrelated material do not appear in the stream.
- Make sure the encoder is set to send the service video and its audio, not a blank scene or the computer desktop.
Set a conservative outgoing profile
For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube lists 5 Mbps as the minimum bitrate and 14 Mbps as the recommended bitrate. These are YouTube’s published encoder-setting figures, not a guarantee that a church’s connection or mini PC can sustain them. Choose a bitrate that the measured upload connection can hold reliably, leaving headroom for normal variation. Do not select a higher rate simply because the connection briefly reached it in a speed test.

YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval as a starting point, then verify the encoder’s output and YouTube’s incoming preview. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions if you use a different resolution or frame rate.
Rehearse before the congregation depends on it
- Schedule a private or unlisted test event, or otherwise test without presenting the rehearsal as the service.
- Use representative movement and audio. A static title slide will not reveal problems with video motion, audio levels or sustained encoding.
- Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives the video and audio in the Live Control Room preview.
- Inspect YouTube’s stream health and the encoder’s connection indicators throughout the test.
- Run the mini PC for the expected duration, or as close to it as practical, to expose overheating, power interruptions, playback issues or connection instability.
- Correct any issue and repeat the test after changing bitrate, encoder settings, cabling or hardware.
YouTube specifically recommends testing with similar audio and movement before going live. A rehearsal on the actual setup is the best way to learn whether the chosen mini PC and connection can maintain the intended stream.

Go live on the day
- Before the scheduled time, power on the mini PC, connect the network and power, open the encoder and load the service file.
- Confirm the encoder has the correct event’s stream URL and key, then start sending the stream.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and check picture, sound and stream health.
- For a scheduled event, select Go live when the preview is ready. The scheduled page alone does not start the broadcast.
- Monitor the stream and the local encoder during the service. Keep an operator available to respond if the feed or connection degrades.
- When the service ends, stop sending from the encoder and end the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; check the event afterward to confirm the archive is available.
Troubleshoot common problems
No preview appears in YouTube Studio
- Confirm the encoder is running and using the correct event’s stream URL and key.
- Check that the service file is playing in the encoder and that the selected scene or source is not blank.
- Allow for connection and processing delay, then inspect the encoder’s output status and YouTube Live Control Room.
OBS dropped frames rise or the connection indicator turns yellow or red
OBS’s help guidance associates dropped frames and warning indicators with a connection that may be unstable or unable to sustain the selected bitrate. Check the network path, use wired Ethernet if available, and lower the outgoing bitrate if the upload cannot hold it. Rehearse again after making a change. Video stutters, freezes or stops
- Check whether the mini PC is struggling to decode the source or sustain the encoder settings; try a less demanding profile and test the full file again.
- Check for thermal problems, power interruptions or other software using the computer’s resources.
- Check whether the upload connection is stable at the selected bitrate; a peak speed reading does not establish sustained capacity.
Viewers cannot hear the service clearly
- Check that the encoder is capturing the file’s audio source and that its audio meter moves during playback.
- Listen to the YouTube preview, not only local computer playback, and correct levels or routing before going live.
The scheduled broadcast does not start automatically
This is expected: YouTube scheduling creates the event page, but local playback and encoder transmission still need to be started. Start the encoder, verify the preview, then select Go live in Studio.

Consider local control versus cloud operation
A mini PC keeps the file and event operation at the church, but the church remains responsible for its hardware, electricity, software and upload connection. YouTube’s encoder directory also lists Gyre as a cloud service for continuous prerecorded-video streams without a dedicated PC. Current pricing, India availability and service terms for that option are not established here, so compare vendor fees and dependence with the control and equipment responsibility of a local setup rather than assuming a cheaper total cost.

Check content rights before streaming
YouTube requires live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A church should also confirm it has the rights needed to stream the sermon, music, readings and other recorded material to viewers in the places where they may watch. The right to play a song inside a building does not necessarily establish the right to transmit its recording online; check the church’s specific permissions rather than assuming they cover a YouTube broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance covers its platform rules, but it does not determine the church’s licensing position in every jurisdiction.
