To keep recorded Spanish lessons playing as a YouTube livestream, send them through an encoder to YouTube Live, then schedule repeating broadcasts that end before YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit. First enable live streaming on your channel, clear rights to every lesson asset, and keep local copies of the recordings. A local computer and encoder give you direct control; a cloud service can keep the stream running without a home computer.
Before you start: check channel access and prepare your lessons
- Confirm eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Prepare a coherent playlist. Arrange recordings into a useful sequence—such as beginner greetings, pronunciation, grammar, and review—rather than relying on one lesson repeated indefinitely. Give the stream and each lesson accurate titles and descriptions.
- Check rights for everything viewers will hear or see. You need the necessary rights to livestream and archive the lesson recordings, including music, images, clips, and other third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions cover those rights.
- Keep master files locally. YouTube warns that a livestream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep local recordings, and plan shorter broadcast blocks if you want archives.
You do not need special video settings based on this workflow alone: YouTube’s encoder setup process requires a compatible encoder and connection details, but the appropriate resolution, bitrate, and hardware depend on your source files, encoder, and available upload capacity. Do not choose a setting that your encoder or connection cannot sustain.
Set up the stream with a local computer and encoder
- Enable live streaming. Sign in to the channel, complete verification if needed, and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule a broadcast. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. In Live Control Room, use the Stream or Manage tab to create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling lets you promote the event and offer viewers a reminder.
- Load the lesson recordings in your encoder. Set the encoder to play your recorded lessons in the order you want. For an ongoing program, prepare a playlist and check how the encoder handles the end of the list; the workflow should be deliberate and should not leave a blank or unintended screen.
- Connect YouTube. Choose YouTube in the encoder if it offers that option. Otherwise, copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Start the encoder and verify the preview. Begin sending video from the encoder, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and check picture, sound, title, and playlist order. When ready, select Go live if the stream is not configured to start automatically.
- End and restart before 12 hours. To preserve YouTube archives, end each broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, then start the next scheduled block. Check the stream status and archive after each block; keep the original lesson files as backup.
Plan continuity and archives around YouTube’s limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The practical approach for an always-on schedule is a chain of shorter broadcasts, not one indefinite event. Leave enough time to verify that one block ended and the next is live, and retain a local copy in case the archive is missing or incomplete. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
A local encoder depends on the computer, encoder, and internet connection continuing to work. That is a practical reliability consideration, not a YouTube guarantee. If the computer sleeps, loses power, or loses its connection, it can stop sending the program; monitor the Live Control Room and check each transition.

Protect educational value and monetization eligibility
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams. A channel may face monetization problems if its programming is highly repetitive with little educational value, consists of generic mass-produced material, or uses templates without meaningful instruction or narrative. Original recordings help establish authorship, but simply replaying the same lesson in an interchangeable loop can still be a concern.
Make the stream recognizably educational: sequence lessons by topic or level, explain what viewers will learn, vary the material, and use accurate titles, descriptions, and channel information. YouTube’s channel monetization policies, including clarification dated July 15, 2025, also distinguish reused-content review from copyright. Permission to use material does not, by itself, establish monetization eligibility.
