Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor a pre-recorded church service streamed in SDR, start with H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio. If the source is 1080p30, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps video; for 720p30, it recommends 8 Mbps. Match the source frame rate and choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain with headroom. These are live-ingest settings, not settings for encoding the video file you upload.
Recommended encoder settings
Use this as a practical starting configuration for a conventional SDR stream. YouTube also supports H.265/HEVC and AV1, but the best choice depends on whether your encoder and workflow support them reliably.
| Setting | Starting point | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP. Enter the stream URL and key in your chosen encoder. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 for live ingest. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate for the live encoder. |
| Resolution and frame rate | Match the source; commonly 1080p30 or 720p30 | Avoid upscaling a lower-resolution recording. YouTube lists frame rates up to 60 fps. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and advises not exceeding 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps | YouTube also permits MP3. For RTMP/RTMPS, 5.1 audio is supported only with AAC. |
| SDR picture | Progressive, square pixels, Rec. 709, 8-bit | These are YouTube’s advanced SDR recommendations. |
Choose a bitrate that fits the source and connection
YouTube’s live-ingest recommendations below are in Mbps. They apply to the live stream sent by your encoder, not the uploaded recording’s file-encoding settings.
| Resolution / frame rate | AV1 or H.265 | H.264 |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p60 | 12 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 10 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 6 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p30 | 6 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 480p30 | 3 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 360p30 | 3 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
For a mostly static pulpit or sanctuary image, 1080p30 is a reasonable target when the recording is 1080p and the upload is steady. Use 720p30 when that matches the source or the connection cannot reliably sustain the higher bitrate. Consider whether faces, lyrics and slides remain legible at the selected resolution. YouTube’s table does not declare a church-specific quality winner or a universal winner between codecs.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Allow upload headroom
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. For a 14 Mbps video stream plus 128 kbps audio, adding 20% yields roughly 17.7 Mbps of stable capacity for that stream alone; other devices and network traffic require more. This is a calculation from YouTube’s bitrate and headroom recommendations, not a separate YouTube threshold. A speed-test peak does not guarantee sustained capacity.
Prepare and test the full loop
- Set up early. YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Confirm the playback workflow. The loop is handled by the media playback and encoder tool you choose. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not provide one universal loop button or software procedure, so check that tool’s own instructions for repeat playback.
- Test the complete recording. Make a test stream with similar audio and motion, and play the prerecorded service through to the end and back to the beginning. Testing the transition can reveal a playback interruption or abrupt audio/video change.
- Preview the event. Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room, then verify the stream appears on the channel or watch page and can be opened on a mobile device.
- Protect the stream key. Keep it private and enter the stream URL and key only in the encoder you intend to use.
- Monitor during the stream. Watch stream health and warnings, and check that picture and audio continue correctly.
Set expectations for a prerecorded live stream
DVR lets viewers pause and rewind. Latency is the delay between capture/encoding and playback; choosing lower latency can increase buffering. For an unattended prerecorded loop, low latency is usually less important than stable playback.

Streaming a recording does not remove the need to have the rights to its music, video, images, or other material. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream rules before scheduling a service, especially if it includes licensed music or third-party recordings. The encoder settings determine how the stream is sent; they do not establish permission to broadcast the content.
Troubleshooting common problems
- Stream health warns about bitrate or connection instability: check sustained upload capacity and competing network use. Reduce the resolution or bitrate to a recommended pairing your connection can maintain, and retain headroom.
- The stream looks soft or text is hard to read: confirm the source resolution and frame rate, avoid unnecessary upscaling, and check that the chosen live bitrate matches YouTube’s table for the selected resolution and codec.
- Audio is missing or out of sync: verify the encoder is sending an enabled audio track using a supported format; AAC stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps is YouTube’s listed starting point. Test the full recording and loop transition before the event.
- The recording stops instead of repeating: check repeat/loop behavior in the selected playback tool. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not define a universal looping control.
- Viewers cannot find or open the stream: check the Live Control Room preview and verify the channel/watch-page listing and mobile access before the scheduled start.
- The encoder cannot connect: confirm the stream URL and key in the encoder, use RTMPS where supported, and ensure the key has not been exposed or replaced.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the church service to keep playing without leaving a computer, encoder, or home connection on, StreamNeo runs a YouTube stream from uploaded videos in the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It loops the uploaded video, can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream, and supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
