For a 24/7 Tamil songs channel, start with a tested 1080p30 or 720p30 encoder profile, H.264 video, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio. Use RTMPS, keep at least 20% upload-bandwidth headroom, and confirm the stream preview and health before going live. The settings are only part of the job: continuous music broadcasting requires the right music permissions, and YouTube’s encoder guidance does not guarantee that one live session can run indefinitely.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for a 24/7 Tamil songs channel
For a mostly static music visual, prioritize reliable audio and an upload connection that can sustain the bitrate over high frame rates. YouTube allows up to 60 fps, but a static image or slowly changing visual generally has little reason to use it. Choose 720p30 if it meets your visual needs and gives your connection more room; choose 1080p30 if the artwork or motion benefits from the added detail and your sustained upload supports it.

Bitrate by resolution
YouTube’s H.264 ingestion table gives these minimum and recommended video bitrates. They are guidance for sending the stream to YouTube, not a guarantee that your internet connection will remain stable.

These bitrate figures are YouTube’s encoder recommendations; the help page does not state a publication date. YouTube transcodes the incoming stream into playback formats for viewers. Leave about 20% of your available upload bandwidth unused, as YouTube advises, rather than setting the encoder bitrate equal to your connection’s advertised maximum. Measure sustained upload under the conditions in which the stream will run.

Before you can start a YouTube live stream
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned launch.
- Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it unnecessarily. If it is exposed, manage or replace it in Live Control Room.
YouTube’s help guidance for these requirements and activation timing has no stated publication date. Check the current Live Control Room interface and YouTube Help before launch because settings and enforcement can change.
Set up the encoder and verify the stream
- Plan the event in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream, and set its title, description, privacy, and other metadata. Scheduling can make an upcoming stream visible to viewers, who may opt in to notifications.
- Choose the stream controls. Select the stream key and review latency, DVR, auto-start, and auto-stop settings. Low latency can help when interacting with viewers, but YouTube notes that lower latency may increase buffering.
- Enter the server URL and key in your encoder. Use the values from Live Control Room; do not copy a key from an unrelated event or expose it in public screenshots, logs, or posts.
- Apply the video and audio profile. Set the codec, resolution, frame rate, CBR bitrate, keyframe interval, and audio format described above. Confirm the encoder is sending the intended audio source and visual.
- Start early and inspect the preview. YouTube recommends configuring an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes early. Wait for the Live Control Room preview, check stream health, and listen and watch for glitches before starting the event.
- Check the viewer experience. Open the watch page on a phone as well as the encoder preview. Confirm that the sound is present, image is correct, and stream health remains acceptable.
- Test recovery before relying on unattended operation. If you have a backup encoder, test failover and reconnection behavior. If recording locally, verify that the local archive file is growing.
Plan for continuous operation, not just a successful start
A 24/7 channel needs a tested plan for interruptions and session turnover. YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end; it does not establish that a single session can stay live indefinitely. Check current session behavior and test how your encoder or operating setup restarts, reconnects, and resumes after a dropped connection or a planned rotation.

Reduce avoidable failure points
- Use a stable wired connection where practical and keep the encoder’s bitrate within sustained upload capacity.
- Monitor stream health, audio, and video rather than assuming a successful initial preview means the stream will remain healthy.
- Test backup-encoder failover and the exact restart procedure before leaving the channel unattended.
- A UPS or battery backup for a streaming PC can reduce risk from brief power interruptions; it will not fix network outages or encoder faults.
Music rights are a launch requirement
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the live video with a placeholder and issue a warning; if the content remains, the platform may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also says licensed third-party content can still be interrupted when the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist.
YouTube’s livestream terms say the broadcaster represents and warrants that they have all necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. Owning an audio file, having a consumer music subscription, or having permission to upload a song does not by itself establish permission for continuous live broadcasts or archived replays.

Confirm permissions for the actual use
- Verify rights for both the musical composition and the sound recording.
- Confirm the territories covered and that the permission includes continuous live streaming.
- Check whether the permission also covers archived replays and whether the rights owner must allowlist your channel in Content ID.
- Get confirmation from the rights holder or provider for the specific Tamil repertoire you intend to play; no particular Tamil music licensing provider or permission is established here.
