Set Windows to open your meditation app when you sign in, then check whether the app itself can restore your account and resume playback. Windows can launch an app after an update restart, but that alone does not guarantee the stream will resume automatically.
Set the meditation app to launch when you sign in
These options apply to Windows 10 and Windows 11; the exact Settings layout can vary by version. Use the first option if the app appears in Windows’ startup list. If it does not, add a shortcut to your Startup folder instead. Microsoft’s startup-app instructions cover both methods.
Enable it in Settings or Task Manager
- Open Settings > Apps > Startup.
- Find the meditation app and switch it on. If it is not listed, check Task Manager > Startup apps and enable it there if available.
- After Windows restarts and you sign in, confirm the app opens. Startup apps run for the signed-in user; this does not mean Windows automatically signs in to the meditation service or resumes its playback.
Add a Startup-folder shortcut if the app is not listed
- Press Windows key + R, enter
shell:appsfolder, and press Enter to open the applications folder. - Press Windows key + R again, enter
shell:startup, and press Enter to open the Startup folder for your account. - Arrange the two folders so you can see both. Create a shortcut to the meditation app in the Startup folder. If you want the shortcut to apply to every account on the PC, use
shell:common startupinstead. - Sign out and back in, or restart the PC, to check that Windows opens the app.
Make sure playback resumes inside the meditation app
App launch and stream restoration are separate. Windows’ startup controls do not establish whether an unspecified meditation service will sign you in, reopen the same stream, or resume from the previous position. In the app, look for settings or account options named launch at startup, autoplay, resume playback, or remember session. Check the service’s own help pages if those controls are unclear, then test the behavior with a normal sign-out or restart before relying on it after an update.
Reduce interruptions from Windows Update
Windows Update settings can help you choose a less disruptive time for a restart, but they cannot guarantee that an update will never interrupt listening. Microsoft says Windows tries to restart outside your active hours where possible; you can also schedule a restart when Windows offers that option. Microsoft’s notice published August 14, 2026 says updates released on and after July 28, 2026 are combined for one monthly restart on Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1. The rollout is gradual, so this behavior may not yet be available on every eligible device. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, according to Microsoft’s current FAQ.
Troubleshoot a stream that does not come back
- The app does not open: Check Settings > Apps > Startup or Task Manager > Startup apps. If the app is absent, confirm its shortcut is in the correct Startup folder for the account you use.
- The app opens but asks you to sign in: Windows startup only launches the app. Sign in and check whether the service offers a secure sign-in persistence or session-resume option; do not assume Windows can restore credentials.
- The app opens but nothing plays: Check the service’s autoplay or resume settings and whether it restores the previous stream. Test those settings separately from Windows startup.
- The PC restarts during listening: Adjust active hours or schedule a restart for a convenient time when Windows provides that choice. These settings reduce disruption but do not prevent every update restart.
