StreamYard is the stronger fit for browser-based production, including features for branding, guests, and multistreaming. Its paid plans have no streaming-time cap imposed by StreamYard itself, but that is not the same as a named 24/7 product or a guarantee that a broadcast will stay uninterrupted.
Neither service’s published information establishes uninterrupted operation for every channel, network, and production setup. Choose by workflow, then separately plan for YouTube eligibility, monitoring, connectivity, and recovery.
How Switchboard Live and StreamYard differ
These services address different parts of a live-stream workflow. Switchboard Live is an encoder-to-cloud relay and destination-management layer: an external encoder sends it a feed, and Switchboard manages where that feed goes. StreamYard is a browser-based production studio, with production and guest features as well as multistreaming on paid plans.

What “unlimited streaming” means for StreamYard
StreamYard’s statement that paid plans have no streaming-time cap refers to a limit imposed by StreamYard on streaming time. It does not override the rules or duration limits of YouTube or another destination, and it does not mean recordings can be stored without limit. In particular, the 10-hour and 24-hour figures above are recording-storage limits, not stated broadcast cutoffs.
For a continuous YouTube channel, treat these as separate questions: how long the service permits a broadcast, how long YouTube permits the destination stream, and whether you need a recording and how much of it the plan stores. Confirm each before building around a long-running broadcast.

What YouTube eligibility requires
YouTube live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming can take lead time, so do not leave channel setup until launch day. Also confirm that the Google account connected to your production service has the permissions needed to manage the channel.
These are eligibility checks, not guarantees that a stream will remain live. YouTube’s own platform rules still apply, including copyright rules. Before looping or rebroadcasting recordings, make sure you have the rights to the video and audio, and review YouTube’s policies for reused content and monetization if those matter to your channel.

Which service should you choose?
Choose Switchboard Live when 24/7 is the primary requirement
Switchboard is the closer match when you already have, or intend to use, a separate encoder and want a relay and destination-management workflow. Its Enterprise pricing listing explicitly names 24/7 Streams. Treat that as a plan-specific feature, not evidence that every subscription supports it or that uninterrupted operation is guaranteed. Confirm the Enterprise terms and the operational support you need.
Choose StreamYard when production and guests matter more
StreamYard is the more natural option if you want to produce a show in a browser, use guest and branding features, or multistream from a studio workflow. Its paid-plan streaming policy removes a StreamYard-imposed time cap, but you still need to check the destination’s rules and distinguish broadcast duration from recording storage.

Consider using both if the workflows fit
Switchboard documents a StreamYard-to-Switchboard connection. A combined workflow may suit a team that wants StreamYard’s studio production and Switchboard’s relay and destination management. Before adopting it, verify how the output is routed, which plans are required, and what happens if either service or the connection between them is interrupted.

Plan for continuity beyond the service choice
A 24/7 listing or an uncapped service-side streaming policy is only one part of a continuous-channel plan. Neither vendor’s documentation cited here establishes uptime or recovery performance for your particular network and production setup. Before launch, make a separate plan for the following:
- Eligibility and access: enable YouTube live streaming in advance and confirm that the connected account can manage the channel.
- Source and connection: identify the encoder or studio that supplies the feed, and assess the stability of its internet connection.
- Interruption response: decide who or what detects a dropped feed, how it will be restarted, and how you will verify that YouTube is live again.
- Destination limits: check YouTube and any other destination’s current duration and account rules; a service’s policy does not supersede theirs.
- Recording needs: determine whether you need an archive, where it will be stored, and whether the plan’s recording cap covers your intended workflow.
- Rights and policy: confirm permission for all video and audio in a loop and review YouTube’s applicable content rules.
