Scheduling creates the event and its watch page; it does not, by itself, play a playlist as a livestream.
How do I schedule a YouTube livestream?
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream.
- Choose a new stream or reuse settings from a previous event. Enter the festival-specific title, description, date, time and privacy setting, then review the other event details. YouTube’s encoder scheduling guide explains the scheduling flow.
- For a series, create a separate scheduled event for each broadcast. A clear naming pattern might be “Diwali Bhajans Live | [year]” or “Navratri Day [number] Bhajans Live | [year].” These are suggestions, not required title formats.
- Check every event after reusing settings. YouTube says reuse copies prior metadata, settings and stream key, but the new event still needs its date, time, privacy, description, thumbnail and stream connection checked.
- Copy the scheduled event’s watch-page URL and share it with viewers. Scheduled streams may appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds, where viewers can select “Notify me.” See YouTube’s guidance on promoting scheduled streams.
Can I schedule a playlist to play as a livestream?
Not through the event scheduler alone. YouTube’s scheduling flow creates a livestream event and watch page. The video and audio feed still has to come from a streaming source. For a prepared, continuous bhajan program, build the playlist in an encoder or another streaming setup, then connect that feed to the scheduled YouTube event. YouTube documents encoder setup separately from scheduling; its guide shows how to copy the stream URL and key into an encoder: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
YouTube supports mobile, webcam and encoder streaming. A phone can suit a simple on-location broadcast, a webcam a direct computer-camera session, and an encoder a prepared program feed. YouTube does not require a particular encoder vendor. Choose a setup that can provide the program you intend to broadcast.
How do I plan separate festival streams?
Set the dates for your audience
Confirm each festival edition and its local observance time for the community you serve before scheduling. Dates and observances can vary by region and tradition, so a generic festival name is not enough to establish a universal date or start time. Include the relevant time zone in your announcement when viewers may be in different regions.

Make each event distinct
Give every broadcast its own event, with a title and description that identify the festival, session and year. If you stream several days of a festival, label each day’s event clearly so viewers can tell them apart. Use YouTube’s reuse option when it saves time, but edit the copied details for that particular broadcast.
Share early and keep the schedule manageable
Post each watch-page link where your audience will see it and communicate any changes. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable schedule rather than one that creates unrealistic expectations. Connect the bhajan program to the scheduled event
- Prepare the playlist or program in the encoder or streaming setup you have chosen.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and copy its stream URL and stream key.
- Enter those values in the encoder’s streaming settings and select the prepared program as the source.
- Before the event, confirm that the encoder is connected to the correct scheduled stream and that the intended title, date and watch page match.
- Start the feed from the encoder for the scheduled event. The event’s existence alone does not start or supply the playlist.
Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who do not need access. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.
Check eligibility and music rights before going live
- YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to livestream. Its guidance also says creators must be at least 16. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming guide.
- Confirm that you have permission to use every bhajan recording and visual in the broadcast. A devotional song may have multiple recordings with separate rights; the song’s religious or traditional character does not establish rights to a particular recording. YouTube requires livestream content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
- Decide whether the archive should stay public, be unlisted or be removed, and consider rights and audience expectations when making that choice.
Optional features for a festival series
Scheduled trailer
YouTube’s Live Control Room can attach a trailer to a scheduled stream. The feature is optional and, according to YouTube, requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; the trailer must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream settings guide.

Live Redirect
Live Redirect can move viewers to a Premiere or another livestream after a broadcast. YouTube says the creator sending the redirect needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting to another channel requires that channel’s permission. See YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
Troubleshooting a scheduled bhajan stream
- The event is scheduled, but no playlist is playing: Scheduling creates the event, not its program feed. Connect and start the encoder or other streaming source for that event.
- The stream connects to the wrong event: Reopen the intended event in Live Control Room and check that its stream URL and key are the ones configured in the encoder.
- The event shows the wrong festival date or details: Review the date, time zone, privacy, description and thumbnail. Reused settings carry prior event details, so verify them individually.
- Viewers cannot find the upcoming stream: Share the correct scheduled watch-page URL and check the event’s visibility settings. Eligible scheduled streams may appear in subscriber feeds as upcoming.
- You cannot start a livestream: Check channel verification, age requirements and whether livestreaming restrictions apply to the channel.
- A recording or visual triggers a rights concern: Stop using material whose permissions you cannot establish. Check rights for each specific recording and visual rather than assuming a bhajan recording is free to use.
