It links a Roblox account and is an open-source implementation of Roblox’s Open Cloud API. It is not the only way to bring Blender work into Studio: you can also export a .obj, .fbx, or .gltf file and import that file through Studio’s 3D importer.
What the Roblox Blender plugin does
Roblox describes the add-on as a way to link your Roblox account and transfer modeling objects from Blender directly to your Studio session. Roblox calls it an open-source implementation of its Open Cloud API and points creators to the plugin’s documentation for installation, usage, licensing, and contribution details. The documentation does not establish a specific release version, Blender compatibility range, license name, or current maintenance status, so check the linked project details before relying on those specifics.
The plugin provides a direct-transfer route; it does not replace the general export/import workflow. Roblox also documents moving assets between Blender and Studio using .obj, .fbx, and .gltf files.
Choose direct transfer or file export/import
| Workflow | Best fit | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Blender plugin | You want to transfer modeling objects directly from Blender to an open Studio session. | Follow the plugin’s GitHub-linked installation and usage details. The available Roblox documentation does not provide a measured speed or reliability comparison with file import. |
| Export a file, then import in Studio | You want to work with a portable intermediate file or control the export and import settings. | Roblox documents .obj, .fbx, and .gltf, along with Studio import options for grouping, creator destination, scene position, orientation, and scale. |
Both workflows can be part of a creator’s pipeline. The file route is particularly useful when you need to inspect or adjust how a model is interpreted in Studio. Roblox’s overview of the interchange process is in its third-party software guide.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Export from Blender and import into Studio
- Prepare the Blender objects. Select the objects you intend to export. Blender uses Z-up, while Studio uses Y-up, so account for the axis difference in the export and import orientation settings.
- Export in a supported format. Roblox documents .obj, .fbx, and .gltf for the Blender/Studio workflow. In Blender’s export panel, set the forward and up axes to match the intended Studio orientation.
- For FBX, choose a scale approach. Roblox recommends FBX Unit Scale for consistent scale when exporting to Studio. Default Blender FBX settings can produce an unexpectedly large model. Roblox also describes exporting at a scale of .01 or changing the scene unit scale as alternatives, but warns that working at .01 scale may cause Blender issues. The guide says glTF does not require those additional scaling configurations.
- Import the file in Studio. Use Studio’s 3D importer and review its options. Depending on your workflow, you can import multiple objects as a Model, choose whether to upload to Roblox and select a creator, retain the scene position, set forward/up orientation, and choose studs as the scale unit.
- Check the result in the scene. Confirm the model’s orientation and scale before continuing work. If it is rotated or too large, revisit the export axes and scale settings rather than assuming the mesh itself needs rebuilding.
Roblox’s detailed Blender workflow guide covers interchange settings. Interface labels and beta features can change, so the exact controls may differ over time.
Why a Blender model is too large or rotated in Studio
Unexpected scale
FBX scale is a common source of size mismatches. Roblox notes that default Blender FBX settings can cause an imported model to appear much larger than expected. Use FBX Unit Scale as the documented recommendation, or carefully evaluate the other scale approaches in Roblox’s guide. Avoid treating the .01 export scale as a universal fix: Roblox warns it can cause Blender issues.

Wrong orientation
The programs use different up axes: Blender is Z-up and Studio is Y-up. Set the forward and up axes in Blender’s export settings and review orientation in Studio’s importer. A mismatch can make a correctly modeled object arrive rotated relative to the scene.

Imported custom meshes become MeshPart objects in Studio. That general modeling workflow does not cover every asset category: avatar characters and accessories may have additional requirements.
