First, switch to another internet connection and replay the livestream. If it works there, focus on the connection that failed; if it fails only on one device, troubleshoot that device; if viewers on different networks report the same problem, the station should check its encoder and outgoing connection. The station being in India does not change YouTube’s basic troubleshooting steps.
Work out whether the problem is your device, your network, or the stream
Buffering patterns help narrow the cause, but they are clues rather than proof: viewer-side and station-side problems can overlap.
| Who is affected? | What to investigate first |
|---|---|
| One viewer | YouTube says the likely cause is that viewer’s device or internet connection. Try another connection or device, and ask whether the station is aware of playback trouble. |
| Several viewers on the same internet connection | Check the shared network. YouTube notes that it needs enough capacity for the combined bandwidth of multiple streams playing at once. |
| Viewers on different internet connections | The station should inspect its encoder output, Live Control Room errors and stream-health reports, CPU load, and outgoing connection. |
These checks do not establish that a particular station has an outage. Confirm a station-side fault through its stream-health information or corroborating reports rather than assuming it from one viewer’s experience.
Fix playback as a viewer
Try these checks in order, replaying the stream after each change so you can see whether it made a difference.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Switch internet connections. If you are on Wi-Fi, try mobile data if available and suitable for your data plan; if you are on mobile data, try Wi-Fi. If playback works on one but not the other, investigate the failing network.
- Lower playback quality. On a TV, open the player’s Settings > Quality control and choose a lower quality manually if the option is available. Controls can vary by device.
- Clear the YouTube app cache on Android. The documented route is device Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > YouTube > Storage & cache > Clear cache. Menu names and locations vary by device and Android version.
- Restart and update the app or device. On a computer, close and reopen the browser, close excess tabs, update the browser, and restart the computer. On a TV, quit and reopen YouTube, restart the TV or streaming device, and check for system updates.
- Try another supported device. If the stream works elsewhere, the problem may follow the original device. If it buffers on multiple devices using the same network, investigate that network next.
- For TV playback, check the connection near the TV. Test connection speed where the TV is used, reduce competing network use, and consider whether placement or obstructions are weakening connectivity. YouTube recommends at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming on TV; this is a guideline, not a guarantee against buffering on every live stream or device.
- Send YouTube feedback if it continues. Use the app’s Help and Feedback option to report the playback problem.
You do not need to install a third-party cleanup utility as a routine fix. The recommended checks are the YouTube app cache, connection, and device.
What the radio station should check
If reports come from viewers on different networks, station staff should investigate the broadcast path rather than asking every listener to troubleshoot the same home connection.

- Review viewer metrics, reported errors, and stream-health information in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Inspect the encoder output and look for encoder errors. Check CPU load, and review a local recording if available for audio or video defects.
- Update the encoder software. If the encoded output looks healthy, test the station’s outgoing internet connection and contact its provider if the test indicates a connection problem.
- Choose a stream quality and upload bitrate the available connection can sustain. Test before going live and monitor stream health during the broadcast.
- Consider the latency setting. YouTube warns, “Lower latency may mean more playback buffering.” A shorter delay leaves less buffer and can make playback interruption more likely. If live chat interaction is not central to the radio broadcast, the station can consider whether a less aggressive latency setting better suits reliable listening; YouTube characterizes the default setting as best for minimizing interruptions in its TV guidance.
Bitrate recommendations depend on resolution, frame rate, and other settings. There is no single bitrate threshold that can be applied to every station’s stream.
