For a non-interactive YouTube loop stream over 4G in India, start with 720p at 30 fps, H.264 at 3 Mbps, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and Normal latency—but only if your measured upload speed at the streaming location can sustain the bitrate with roughly 20% headroom. Try 1080p30 at 5 Mbps only when the connection remains steady with that reserve. A 4G icon, a high download result, or a carrier’s advertised speed cannot confirm that your uplink will hold.
Choose the stream settings from your measured upload
YouTube’s figures below are recommended live-ingestion bitrates, not measurements of Indian mobile networks or guarantees of picture quality. For H.264, YouTube lists 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. Its recommendations rise to 8 Mbps for 720p60 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. If upload speed fluctuates, reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate rather than configuring the stream at the edge of what a speed test briefly reports.
| Resolution and frame rate | YouTube H.264 recommended bitrate | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps | Practical starting point when the connection’s stability is uncertain. |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps | Only if measured sustained upload can support the higher rate with reserve. |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | Consider when upload is consistently stable above the bitrate plus headroom. |
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps | Requires substantially more upload capacity; avoid if the uplink varies. |
YouTube recommends about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. As a simple planning calculation, a 3 Mbps stream needs about 3.75 Mbps of sustained available upload to leave 20% spare; a 5 Mbps stream needs about 6.25 Mbps. This is a reserve calculation, not a promise that a mobile connection will remain stable. If you send a backup feed as well, include the primary bitrate, backup bitrate, and reserve in the bandwidth plan.
Codec, rate control, and keyframes
- Codec: H.264 is the straightforward baseline for the figures above. YouTube also documents AV1 and H.265, with separate bitrate recommendations; use those only if the encoder supports the codec and the outgoing stream is actually configured for it.
- Rate control: YouTube specifies constant bitrate (CBR) for RTMP/RTMPS live ingestion.
- Keyframe interval: Set a 2-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: Configure the encoder for RTMP or RTMPS according to the stream setup and the encoder’s available options.
Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings for the selected codec and protocol; do not apply H.264 bitrate figures to an AV1 or H.265 stream as if the recommendations were interchangeable.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Latency
Choose Normal latency for a pre-recorded loop that does not need real-time audience interaction. YouTube describes it as the mode with the lowest viewer buffering risk. Low and ultra-low latency are intended for increasing levels of interaction and can expose playback to more buffering.
Test the actual 4G connection before going live
Measure upload at the place and time the encoder will run. Mobile performance can change with signal conditions and network load, and download speed does not establish outbound capacity. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate; its mobile guidance also advises finding a strong-signal area. No carrier or plan can be identified as best for India from the available platform guidance, so test the SIM and location you intend to use and check the plan’s current data terms.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Check eligibility: YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Its general live-streaming help page says creators must be at least 16.
- Create or schedule the stream: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and copy its stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Set the encoder: Choose the resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, CBR, protocol, and keyframe interval described above. Check the selected encoder’s output settings rather than assuming a loop tool has applied the intended values.
- Test at the broadcast location: Run an upload speed test, confirm signal strength, and test the planned loop with comparable audio and motion. Inspect YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators before relying on the setup.
- Check data allowance: YouTube estimates about 10 MB per minute for mobile live streaming. Treat that as a general platform estimate, not a calculation for a specific Indian carrier, plan, bitrate, or stream duration. Confirm the plan’s cap and current terms.
- Protect the recording: Keep a local recording if the stream matters to you, and decide how to handle YouTube’s long-stream archive and DVR limits before leaving it running.
Plan for loop playback and long broadcasts
Here, a “loop stream” means replaying a video or playlist through an encoder as a continuous live feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers sending a live feed; it does not establish a special loop-stream bitrate or a platform-provided loop mode. Check that the chosen playback tool repeats the source without a gap, and listen for audio continuity before going live.
Long broadcasts have archive trade-offs: YouTube can automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Keep a local copy if preserving the loop is important, and check that the local recording file is intact and growing.

Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely issue | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health becomes poor or viewers buffer | The uplink cannot consistently sustain the configured bitrate, or it lacks spare capacity. | Retest upload at the broadcast location. Lower bitrate, resolution, or frame rate and leave about 20% headroom. |
| Speed test looks good, but the stream still fluctuates | The result may not represent sustained upload during the broadcast; a download result is not an upload measure. | Use the upload result, test at the intended time and location, and monitor stream health while live. |
| Encoder cannot connect to the scheduled stream | The stream URL or stream key may be incorrect, or the stream setup may not match the encoder’s protocol. | Recheck the URL and key in YouTube Studio and the encoder. Keep the key private. |
| Video appears choppy or the loop has gaps | The chosen frame rate may be demanding for the connection or the loop source may not repeat cleanly. | Try a lower frame rate or resolution, then test the complete loop and its audio before broadcasting. |
| Expected archive or rewind is missing | The stream exceeded 12 hours, when archiving is not assured and DVR may be limited or unavailable. | Use a local recording for preservation and plan stream duration around YouTube’s limits. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a YouTube channel that stays live with pre-recorded video, StreamNeo is an alternative to running an encoder on a device over 4G: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home.
