Configure the video loop separately in a Media Source or VLC Video source: there is no OBS command-line flag that turns a profile into a loop-stream profile.
What the OBS options select
An OBS profile and a Scene Collection are separate pieces of a setup. Profiles store stream, video, and output settings; they do not store scenes. Scene Collections store scenes and their setup. The OBS launch parameters documentation lists the options for choosing them at startup.
--profile "Loop Stream"loads the profile named Loop Stream.--collection "Loop Scenes"loads the Scene Collection named Loop Scenes.--scene "Main"selects the scene named Main, if you want a particular scene selected.--startstreamingstarts streaming when OBS launches. It does not select a profile, collection, or scene, and it does not configure looping.
Put quotation marks around names containing spaces. Use the names as they appear in OBS.
Configure the source to loop
Set up the loop in a scene before launching OBS with the saved profile. A profile-launch option cannot make a media file repeat; looping is a property of the media source.

Repeat one video file
- In the intended scene, add a Media Source and choose the video file. OBS’s Media Sources guide describes media files as sources that can be added to scenes.
- Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. OBS documents this setting as off by default; when enabled, the file plays again after it finishes.
Repeat a playlist
- Add a VLC Video source and configure its playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties so the sequence restarts after the playlist runs out.
The VLC Video source requires VLC. OBS specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Media Sources documentation for these source settings and dependency.

Windows shortcut
In the shortcut’s Target field, put the executable path first and append the options after it. Adjust the installation path and saved names for your system:

For a scheduled or automated launch, set the shortcut or task’s Start in working directory to the folder containing obs64.exe. The OBS Launch Parameters page describes the Windows shortcut method.

From Terminal, use OBS’s documented open invocation, replacing the names with your own:

The OBS documentation also describes using open -a "OBS" --args followed by the options in an Automator Run Shell Script action. These Windows and macOS examples are platform-specific; the cited launch page does not provide a Linux-specific example.
Start streaming automatically (optional)
Only add --startstreaming if you intend OBS to go live immediately after opening. For example, append it to the end of the Windows or macOS command after confirming the selected profile, scene collection, scene, media source, and stream destination. The option starts the stream; it does not make the source loop. Check the setup on your installed OBS version and platform before relying on an unattended start.

To see the options supported by the installed application, run obs --help or obs -h in a terminal or command prompt.
Troubleshooting
- OBS opens with the wrong scenes: Add
--collection "Scene Collection Name". A profile does not include scenes. - The expected stream or video settings are missing: Check the profile name after
--profile; stream, video, and output settings belong to the profile. - The video plays once and stops: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. The setting is off by default.
- The playlist does not restart: Enable Loop Playlist in the VLC Video source properties and verify VLC is installed. If OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC.
- OBS goes live before you are ready: Remove
--startstreamingand launch without it while checking the setup. - A launch shortcut or automation does not behave as expected: Check that the executable path and option order are correct, names with spaces are quoted, and the Windows automation working directory points to the folder containing
obs64.exe. Verify the behavior on the installed OBS version before depending on it.
