An “offline” label in YouTube Studio alone does not identify which step failed.
Diagnose the stream in order
The path is encoder → Livepush ingest → configured YouTube destination → YouTube live event. Check each link in that order. Livepush’s dashboard guide, dated January 16, 2023, describes incoming-stream status, a video preview, bitrate, FPS, keyframe interval, resolution, codecs, uptime and a health-monitor graph of bytes received from the encoder. Dashboard labels and YouTube messages may change over time.
1. Check whether Livepush receives the encoder feed
Open the Livepush stream dashboard. Look for incoming status, preview and health-monitor activity, and check whether bitrate and FPS are present. If Livepush is offline or the graph shows no incoming data, the failure is upstream of YouTube: confirm the encoder is running and configured with the correct Livepush ingest settings. There is little value in changing YouTube event settings until the feed reaches Livepush.
2. Confirm the YouTube destination is saved and enabled
If Livepush is receiving video, inspect its YouTube destination. In Livepush’s linked-account setup guide (dated January 25, 2025), the setup flow selects a channel, selects “New Live Event” when creating an event, saves the destination and turns its switch on. Confirm that the destination points to the intended channel and event and that its switch is enabled. An incoming feed at Livepush does not by itself confirm that it is forwarding to YouTube.

3. Verify the event and stream key if you use manual RTMP
With the manual RTMP method, create or select the YouTube event, copy that event’s RTMP stream key into the Livepush destination, save the destination and enable it. Check that the key belongs to the event you intend to stream. If it may be outdated or incorrect, YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance advises obtaining a new key in Live Control Room and updating the encoder or destination. Treat a stream key as a password: do not share it or expose it in screenshots.

Livepush documents both methods but does not establish that one is more reliable. Choose according to whether you prefer account linking or per-event key setup, and whether Livepush multi-chat comments matter to you.

4. Make sure YouTube is ready and the event is actually live
YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. For a scheduled stream, connect the encoder, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and click “Go live.” Creating or scheduling an event does not start it. Check the event’s state rather than assuming that a saved event is already broadcasting.
5. Read encoder output and YouTube health messages
YouTube recommends using the latest encoder version, checking audio and video output, reviewing Live Control Room errors and checking encoder CPU load. If the local output looks healthy but the stream still fails downstream, YouTube suggests considering another encoder as a diagnostic. Its Live Streaming API distinguishes active, created, error, inactive and ready stream statuses; these are not interchangeable. Health messages can point to configuration problems, including a GOP that is not closed or too little incoming video for smooth streaming. Use the message shown for your event to guide the next check.

6. Test the network only if the encoder output looks healthy
YouTube identifies outbound internet connection problems as one possible cause when encoder output looks and sounds healthy. Test the connection and contact your internet provider if that test finds a problem. If Wi-Fi instability is suspected, trying wired Ethernet can help isolate that branch; a cable will not fix an incorrect key, event selection, authorization or encoder configuration.
7. Contact the team that controls the failing link
If you sign in to third-party software without entering a stream key and that software cannot connect, YouTube advises contacting the software provider, which may need to update compatibility. For Livepush destination setup, its guide offers Livepush live-chat support. When asking for help, identify the last point that shows incoming data and the event status or health message; never include an exposed stream key.
