YouTube Premiere Alternatives for Continuous Music Streams

A Premiere gathers viewers for one scheduled upload. For continuous YouTube music, compare cloud playout, a local OBS setup and relay services—with their limits and trade-offs.

YouTube Premiere is for gathering viewers around one scheduled video; it does not keep a music channel live around the clock. For continuous prerecorded music on YouTube, use a live-playout setup: a cloud service such as StreamNeo, or a local encoder such as OBS running on a dedicated computer. Choose a Premiere when you want a shared launch; choose continuous playout when you want the channel to keep broadcasting.

Premiere and continuous live streaming do different jobs

A Premiere creates a public watch page for a scheduled video. Viewers can share the page before it starts, set reminders and chat; once the event ends, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload. YouTube describes the format as letting viewers watch a new video with its creator and community in real time. It is an event around one upload, not a continuously running channel.

A continuous music stream instead sends audio and video as a live broadcast, often by looping prerecorded material or a playlist. That requires a playout service or an encoder that keeps sending the stream. A Premiere can be useful for announcing a new album, mix or event, but it does not replace that ongoing broadcast workflow. YouTube also says Premiere output above 1080p is not supported.

Best fit for unattended YouTube music: cloud playout

1. StreamNeo

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live on YouTube. Upload a recording or create a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream; playout continues in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It is the first option to consider for a 24/7 YouTube stream: always-on cloud playout, any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and a free first day.

2. Upstream

Upstream’s vendor page describes 24/7 playlist playout, audio over visual loops and distribution to multiple services. That makes it another cloud-playout example to investigate if you need playlist-based programming or multiple destinations. These are vendor claims, not independent reliability test results; check its current destination support, plan limits and playlist features before choosing it. The available information does not establish its current pricing or uptime.

Run the stream yourself with OBS

OBS Studio is a no-charge, open-source local option identified in the comparison. It can suit creators who want to manage the broadcast themselves rather than rely on a cloud playout service. The trade-off is operational: the computer running OBS, its power, the video files and a dependable internet connection all need to remain available. A shutdown, network interruption, software update or maintenance task can interrupt the stream.

  1. Prepare the channel. Confirm that the YouTube channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction from the prior 90 days. Enable live streaming if YouTube prompts you to do so; access may not be immediate. YouTube’s stated limits include 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key, so check its current help page before planning multiple broadcasts.
  2. Prepare the program. Add the music and visuals you have the rights to use. For a continuous channel, arrange the material as a loop or playlist in the production workflow you intend to operate. Keep a local copy of the program if you need an archive independent of YouTube’s capture.
  3. Create or select a YouTube stream key. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live, then use the stream setup to select or create a stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
  4. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the stream key. Verify the destination in YouTube Studio before going live.
  5. Set output to match your source and connection. Choose a resolution and frame rate your computer can encode reliably and your upload connection can sustain. Avoid upscaling low-resolution music visuals. Use a stable video and audio configuration, then check the live preview and audio meters before starting; YouTube’s Premiere resolution limit does not define the settings for a live broadcast.
  6. Start and monitor the broadcast. Start streaming in OBS and confirm that YouTube Studio shows the incoming signal and that the watch page plays correctly. For a continuous channel, keep OBS, the computer and network running, monitor for interruptions, and restart the broadcast if the encoder or connection stops.

This local method gives you direct operational control, but it is not unattended unless you also provide reliable power, connectivity, monitoring and recovery. A small dedicated PC can be used for this route, but no particular model or specification is established here.

When a multistream relay is not the same as 24/7 playout

Restream is more directly suited to distributing a produced stream to multiple services or scheduling a prerecorded broadcast than to proven unattended, unlimited music playout. Its Help Center says server maintenance may restart a stream that has run for more than 24 hours and recommends restarting every 24 hours. Its comparison page describes looping a prerecorded video of up to four hours as many as ten times, for up to 40 hours total. That is a finite loop, not evidence of uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Check current documentation for limits before relying on it for a continuous channel.

Protect the archive and the music rights

Do not rely on YouTube to capture an indefinitely long archive

YouTube Help says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the full program matters, keep a local recording or another archive plan; a continuous stream is not a dependable substitute for an archive file.

Streaming software does not grant music licenses

YouTube’s terms require the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. A track being available to stream, or a video being uploaded successfully, does not establish that you can use it in a live broadcast. Clear the rights for the music and visuals before scheduling a Premiere or running a continuous stream.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded content streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
