To stream a continuous relaxation playlist on YouTube with OBS, prepare a YouTube broadcast, build an OBS scene, route a playlist player’s audio into OBS, connect OBS to YouTube, and test the stream before making it public. Use music whose rights cover both YouTube livestreaming and any archived video: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and even licensed music may need the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID.
Before you start
You need OBS Studio, a computer that can play the music files or playlist, a YouTube channel eligible to stream, and a reliable internet upload connection. Prepare the visual material for the broadcast and confirm you have permission to use every track in both the live stream and its archive, if you plan to keep one.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends measuring upload capacity and choosing settings the connection can sustain reliably. Its bitrate recommendations vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec; there is no single bitrate that fits every setup.
Choose music cleared for YouTube Live
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If a match is detected, a placeholder may replace the stream and YouTube may warn you to stop using the material; if the issue remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube Audio Library
The YouTube Audio Library in YouTube Studio offers searchable, downloadable production music and sound effects that YouTube identifies as copyright-safe. Check each track’s terms: Creative Commons tracks require artist attribution in the video description. You can filter for standard Audio Library tracks that do not require attribution. YouTube says YPP creators may monetize videos that use Audio Library tracks and that its copyright-safe downloads will not be claimed through Content ID.
Third-party licensed music
Read the actual license for each track and verify it covers YouTube livestreams and archived videos. YouTube advises creators using licensed third-party music to ask the rights owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist; a license alone does not necessarily prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. Archived livestreams may also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends. Do not assume a streaming subscription or a “royalty-free” label grants the rights you need. YouTube cautions that it cannot vouch for royalty-free music from other channels or libraries.

Set up the YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a broadcast, then set its title, privacy, and other broadcast options.
- Decide whether you want to schedule the stream and use YouTube’s preview and go-live controls, or manage the broadcast through OBS’s YouTube integration. OBS’s detailed community walkthrough for these workflows was last updated in 2021, so confirm labels and behavior in your installed versions of OBS and YouTube Studio.
- Keep your YouTube stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
OBS’s Quick Start Guide covers scenes, sources, audio configuration, and output settings.
Build the OBS scene and route playlist audio
- In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast.
- Add the visual source you want viewers to see, such as a still image or other prepared visual material.
- Start the music playlist in the player you intend to use. Configure that player or its audio output so OBS can capture it. The exact routing depends on your operating system and setup; OBS’s general guidance does not prescribe a particular playlist player or looping method.
- Watch the OBS audio mixer while the playlist plays. The intended audio meter should move. Listen through headphones if available to verify that the sound is audible and that the correct source is active.
- If the meter is silent or the wrong device is active, open Settings → Audio in OBS and check the selected input and output devices.
For a continuous broadcast, verify how your chosen player handles the end of the playlist. If it does not repeat automatically, arrange a repeat or a playlist that continues long enough for the intended stream. Test the transition between tracks so that the audio source does not stop unexpectedly.

Connect OBS to YouTube and choose output settings
- Use OBS’s YouTube integration, or select a YouTube RTMPS service in the current streaming settings and enter the stream key using the current OBS interface.
- Set a resolution and frame rate appropriate for the visuals and the upload connection. For a largely static relaxation visual, high frame rates may not be necessary; prioritize stable delivery over settings your connection cannot sustain.
- Use a video bitrate from YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and CBR; it recommends RTMPS.
- Make sure the audio bitrate and source are configured, then check OBS’s mixer while playback continues.
Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings table rather than copying a bitrate from a different resolution, frame rate, codec, or connection.
Test, go live, and end the broadcast
- Run a short test before going public. Use representative audio and visual movement rather than testing with a silent scene if the real broadcast will have music.
- Check the YouTube preview, stream-health indicators, and any messages in the Live Control Room. Confirm that the audio is audible and the visual appears as expected.
- If the test is satisfactory, start or publish the broadcast using the controls for the workflow you chose.
- Monitor OBS and YouTube during the stream. OBS says rising dropped frames can indicate that the connection is unstable or cannot sustain the selected bitrate. Reduce the streaming demand or address the network connection if this occurs.
- When finished, stop the stream using the current YouTube or OBS controls and verify in YouTube Studio that the broadcast has ended. Start and stop behavior can differ for scheduled and unscheduled broadcasts; do not rely on old interface labels.
OBS recommends a short test in its Quick Start Guide, and YouTube recommends testing with audio and video movement similar to the planned stream. You can review stream health and messages in the YouTube encoder guidance. For dropped-frame guidance, see OBS’s dropped-frames troubleshooting page.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OBS mixer shows no audio | The playlist player is not routed to a source OBS captures, or the wrong device is selected. | Confirm the player is playing, then check Settings → Audio and the active source. Verify that the intended mixer meter moves. |
| The stream is live but viewers hear silence | The wrong audio source or output may be active, or the captured source may be muted. | Check the OBS mixer, source mute state, and YouTube preview during a test. |
| YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream | A Content ID match may have been detected. | Stop using the matched material. Confirm the track’s live-use rights and, for third-party licensed music, ask the rights owner about channel allowlisting. |
| The archive receives a claim after the stream | Content ID may identify material in the archived broadcast even after a live stream has ended. | Review the claim and the track’s archive permissions; do not assume live-use permission also resolves archive claims. |
| OBS reports rising dropped frames | The network may be unstable or unable to sustain the selected bitrate. | Use a lower-demand resolution, frame rate, or bitrate that the connection can reliably support, and check the connection. Consult OBS’s dropped-frames guidance. |
| The broadcast does not start or stop as expected | The selected scheduled or unscheduled workflow may use different controls, or the interface has changed. | Check the current controls in OBS and YouTube Studio and confirm the broadcast status in the Live Control Room. |
