Schedule each loop as a separate YouTube Live event. For each event, choose the intended video in your encoder, connect it to YouTube with that event’s stream URL and key, check the preview, and start the broadcast. YouTube Studio’s documented scheduling flow does not describe automatically rotating prerecorded loops; for that, you would need a separately verified automation setup.
What scheduling does—and does not do
A scheduled YouTube Live event gives a broadcast its own time and event details. The encoder supplies the video feed. That means different loops can be shown at different scheduled times on the same channel by creating separate events and selecting the right source for each one.
YouTube’s documented workflow covers scheduling individual events and connecting an encoder. It does not describe a built-in YouTube Studio playlist that automatically switches among prerecorded loops on a timetable. Scheduling an event and automating loop rotation are separate tasks.
Schedule one event for each loop
- Open the scheduling flow. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, open Manage, then select Schedule Stream.
- Create the event. Choose Create new for a fresh setup, or Reuse settings to copy a previous event’s metadata, settings, and stream key. You can edit the copied event after it is created.
- Set the event details. Enter a title and description, choose privacy, and set the scheduled time. A scheduled event can appear as upcoming; viewers may be able to open its page and select Notify me.
- Prepare the matching loop in your encoder. Select the prerecorded video you intend to broadcast for this event. This selection happens in the encoder; the scheduling steps do not select or rotate video files for you.
- Connect to YouTube. In Live Control Room, get the event’s stream URL and stream key, then enter them in the encoder. The key is a credential that allows YouTube to accept the encoder’s feed; do not publish it.
- Check before going live. Start the encoder and wait for its preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the correct loop and its audio are present, then select Go live. YouTube recommends testing the setup and monitoring audio and video quality.
- End the broadcast. Select End Stream in YouTube and stop sending from the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
Set up a run of different loops
For a sequence of loops at different times, repeat the event process for each broadcast. Keep a simple schedule that pairs each event’s title and time with the intended video file. Before starting each event, check both the event details and the encoder source: reusing settings can save setup work, but it also copies the previous event’s settings and stream key.

YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop options control whether streaming can be started or stopped from the encoder. Reusing settings copies those selections too. They do not, by themselves, schedule a change to a different video source.
Choose between separate events and one continuous broadcast

If you need unattended recurring changes among many videos, check that any separate scheduling or automation tool you consider explicitly supports your intended YouTube workflow. The YouTube scheduling instructions alone do not establish that capability or verify a particular third-party tool.

Stream key and setup precautions
- Review reused settings. You can edit a new event created with Reuse settings; check its title, description, privacy, time, and intended encoder source before starting.
- Protect the key. Treat the stream key like a password. If it is compromised, YouTube documents a reset process; only a channel owner or manager can reset it.
- Test and monitor. Check the incoming preview and listen to the audio before selecting Go live, then monitor the broadcast while it is running.
Troubleshooting common scheduling problems
- The wrong loop appears in preview: select the intended video in the encoder before going live. Reusing YouTube settings does not select the correct video source for you.
- No preview appears: confirm that the encoder is sending to the event’s stream URL with its corresponding key, and that the encoder has been started. Wait for the feed to appear before selecting Go live.
- The event has old details: if you chose Reuse settings, edit the copied event and verify its metadata, schedule, and settings.
- A key may have been exposed: do not continue using a compromised credential; have a channel owner or manager reset it in YouTube.
- The next loop does not start automatically: the documented Studio scheduling workflow does not provide automatic loop rotation. Create and start the next event with the correct encoder source, or separately verify an automation system for that requirement.
