You can loop a meditation video into a YouTube Live stream with FFmpeg by creating a live broadcast in YouTube Studio, then sending the video to YouTube’s ingest server using the broadcast’s stream key. The FFmpeg loop can repeat a file indefinitely, but that alone does not make a stream fault-tolerant or guarantee one broadcast will run forever. You’ll also need to check the music rights, verify the stream in YouTube’s Live Control Room, and plan how you’ll respond to interruptions.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours.
- A computer with an FFmpeg build that includes the encoders you plan to use, plus an internet connection capable of sending the stream continuously.
- A video file containing the meditation audio and a visual, or separate audio and video files you can map together in FFmpeg.
- Music rights that cover the uses you intend, including livestreaming and keeping an archive if applicable.
This is a do-it-yourself setup: the computer running FFmpeg and its network connection must stay available while it sends the stream. The command below is an illustrative starting point, not a tested turnkey production configuration.
Can I livestream music I licensed?
Only use music you created or music whose rights and license terms cover your planned use. Check that the license covers YouTube live streaming, the territories where you expect to make the stream available, monetization if relevant, and the archived recording. Keep a copy of the license and the rights holder’s contact details. “Royalty-free” by itself does not establish that a track is cleared for every use.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies material, a live stream may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube also warns that licensed third-party content may still cause an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. A completed live archive can receive a Content ID claim after the stream ends. A license is not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming, a claim-free archive, or monetization eligibility.

Separately, do not assume that repeating a track or visual makes a channel eligible for monetization. Review YouTube’s current monetization rules for your channel and content; the technical ability to stream a loop does not determine eligibility.
How do I loop meditation music on YouTube Live?
1. Prepare a file and choose a loop
For the simplest setup, use one video file that already contains both the audio and visual. Listen to the transition from the end back to the beginning: a seamless loop is ideal, but an unobtrusive transition is better than a sudden sound gap or jarring image jump. Test the actual audio and motion you intend to stream, not just a still frame or a short excerpt.
If your audio and visual are separate files, FFmpeg can take both as inputs, but you must explicitly map the desired audio and video streams and check that their timing stays aligned. The combined-file command later in this article does not cover every separate-input arrangement.

2. Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one, then set its title, description, privacy, and other metadata.
- In the encoder settings for that broadcast, copy the server URL and stream key exactly. The stream key works like a password: do not share it, publish it in a screenshot, or leave it in a publicly visible command history.
- If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation before your planned launch.
The server URL and stream key belong to the specific YouTube broadcast setup. Keep the Live Control Room open so you can check whether YouTube is receiving the signal and whether stream health is acceptable.

Check YouTube’s current live encoder settings for the resolution and stream type you intend to use. Its guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. The same guidance gives 128 Kbps stereo AAC and a 44.1 kHz stereo sample rate as audio settings. Confirm the current requirements for your chosen profile rather than treating one example command as universal.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection to its servers. Use the RTMPS server URL supplied in the Live Control Room. Do not put an actual stream key into a public post, article, screenshot, or reusable script.

What FFmpeg command streams a looping video to YouTube?
Replace the bitrate and RTMPS destination placeholders with values that match your YouTube encoder profile and broadcast. The file must contain suitable audio and video streams. This template has not been validated for your FFmpeg build, media file, or YouTube profile:

Put these input options before the input they apply to. Output options such as codecs and bitrate follow the input. The example’s 30 frames per second and 60-frame GOP express a two-second interval only when the output is actually 30 fps; verify the frame rate, keyframe setting, pixel format, and bitrate against the profile you selected. The audio bitrate and sample rate shown are the figures in YouTube’s encoder guidance; check that guidance for changes before configuring a live channel.

FFmpeg documents -re as useful for pacing file input. Do not use a low read rate for actual capture devices or live inputs: FFmpeg cautions that it can cause packet loss. If your FFmpeg build does not support an encoder or option in the template, use an available configuration that matches YouTube’s current ingest requirements rather than assuming the command will work unchanged.
Test the stream before making it public
- Start with an unlisted or private broadcast if that fits your workflow, and run the same kind of audio and visual content you plan to publish.
- Check the Live Control Room for an incoming signal and stream-health information.
- Listen for clipping, silence, abrupt loop gaps, or audio/video drift. Watch for a missing image, unintended black frames, or a distracting visual reset.
- Confirm the selected resolution, codecs, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval match the current YouTube profile.
- Only switch to a public launch after you have checked the stream end to end.
YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the eventual stream and monitoring stream health. A short preflight cannot prove the setup will stay online indefinitely, so keep monitoring and recovery plans in place.

FFmpeg can repeat a file indefinitely, but that describes the input loop—not an assurance that the computer, network, encoder, or YouTube broadcast will remain connected without interruption. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not establish a universal maximum continuous duration or guarantee that one session can run forever. Plan for broadcast lifecycle management rather than treating “24/7” as a promise that a single session never needs attention or restarting.

Plan for faults and session changes
- Keep a supervisor or restart plan for the FFmpeg process, and retain logs that can help identify whether a failure came from the host, network, encoder, or ingest connection.
- Monitor the computer and connection, and arrange a human alert path so someone can respond when the process stops or YouTube reports a problem.
- Decide how you will handle a YouTube broadcast ending or needing a new session. Do not assume that restarting FFmpeg alone will always restore the same broadcast.
- Test your own recovery procedure before relying on it. There is no single restart configuration established here as a guarantee of uninterrupted delivery.
