Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →You can loop a YouTube Live stream after it has ended only if the channel has made a replay available as a video: use YouTube’s Loop control on that replay. While a broadcast is still live, DVR may let you pause and rewind, but it is not a whole-stream repeat control. To make a replay chapter-free, the creator must remove manual timestamp chapters and turn off automatic chapters in YouTube Studio; viewers do not have a documented setting to hide chapters on someone else’s video.
First, tell a live broadcast from its replay
| Playback state | What you can do | Limit | Who controls chapters? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broadcast is live | Pause or rewind with DVR, if the stream and device support it. | DVR does not repeat the entire broadcast. You cannot seek to before the stream began, and the rewind window can be limited. | The creator controls chapter settings; the reviewed YouTube guidance does not document a viewer-side chapter-hiding control. |
| Replay is published as a video | Use YouTube’s Loop control to repeat the replay. | The channel must publish a replay, and it must be available to you. | The creator can remove manual chapters and disable automatic chapters. |
YouTube describes DVR as letting viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream. Resuming returns to the point where you paused; it does not restart the broadcast from the beginning. Once the live event ends, a channel may post a replay or highlights, but publication is not guaranteed.
How to repeat a published YouTube Live replay
- Open the channel’s archived live-stream replay, if one has been published and is available.
- On a computer, right-click inside the video player and choose Loop. The control is also available on mobile, TV, and gaming-console interfaces, though the exact steps vary by device and app version.
- If the stream is still live, use DVR to pause or rewind when available. You cannot use that feature to loop the full broadcast.
Why you might not see a replay
YouTube can automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but creators’ replay choices and other circumstances affect what is available. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the channel has not published a replay, there is no video for you to loop.
How a creator can remove chapters from a replay
These steps apply to a replay you manage. Chapter-free playback requires checking both manual timestamps and the automatic-chapters setting; turning off automatic chapters alone does not remove timestamps already in the description.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- In YouTube Studio, open Content, select the live-stream replay, and open its details.
- Review the description. If it contains a timestamp-and-title list, remove those manual chapter entries and save the description.
- Expand Show more, locate Automatic Chapters, clear Allow automatic chapters, and save.
YouTube says manually entered chapters take precedence over automatic chapters. Automatic chapters are not generated for every video, and not every video is eligible. New uploads allow automatic chapters by default, but that default does not guarantee chapters will appear.
What viewers can and cannot change
- For your own replay: change the description and automatic-chapters setting in YouTube Studio as above.
- For someone else’s replay: you can use Loop to repeat the video, but YouTube’s reviewed help guidance describes chapter navigation rather than a viewer control for hiding chapters.
- For a live stream: DVR availability is conditional. You cannot seek to before the broadcast started, and changing DVR settings during a live event affects only viewers who begin watching after the change.
DVR and archive limits to keep in mind
- DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Lower limits apply on Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older YouTube app versions.
- Streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. YouTube recommends that creators keep a local archive as a backup.
- A local creator backup is not needed just to loop a replay that is already available on YouTube.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, rather than loop a replay for personal viewing, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos on YouTube, not going live from a camera. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
