A church can upload its recorded sermons to YouTube Studio and schedule each one as a separate Premiere for its own date and time. Premieres add an advance watch page, reminders, a countdown and live chat; choose ordinary scheduled publication instead when the goal is simply to make each sermon available at a set time.
How to schedule a week of recorded sermons as Premieres
- Prepare a video file for each sermon, then open YouTube Studio and upload the videos. YouTube allows up to 15 videos to be uploaded at a time, but you still need to edit the details for each video. YouTube’s upload instructions explain the computer workflow.
- For each upload, enter its title, description, thumbnail and other video details.
- Open the video’s Visibility settings, choose Schedule, and set that sermon’s date and time.
- Select Set as Premiere. Configure countdown options if you want them, then save or schedule the video. See YouTube’s Premiere instructions for the current Studio workflow.
- Repeat for every sermon, checking each date, time and time zone individually. YouTube’s published guidance describes scheduling each video; it does not describe one recurring weekly Premiere setting.
- Copy each Premiere’s watch-page URL and share it with your congregation. YouTube recommends scheduling a Premiere at least 24 hours in advance so people have time to see its thumbnail in their subscriptions feed and set a reminder.
A Premiere’s public watch page is available before playback begins. At the scheduled time, viewers see a countdown and watch the recording together in real time. They can rewind, but cannot skip ahead beyond the point reached in playback. After the Premiere, the video stays on the channel as a regular upload, with chat replay available. YouTube describes the feature and its viewing experience here.
Premiere or ordinary scheduled publication?
| Choose | Best when | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| Premiere | The church wants a shared event and can benefit from promoting a watch page in advance. | A countdown, live chat, reminders and a video watched together in real time. |
| Ordinary scheduled publication | The priority is making the sermon available at a planned time without an event-style viewing experience. | The video becomes available at the scheduled date and time; a shared countdown and Premiere live chat are not part of this choice. |
Both workflows use a scheduled date and time. YouTube’s standard scheduling instructions let the uploader choose the date, time and time zone. Check YouTube’s current scheduling steps.
Check format, channel status and time zones
- Video format: Shorts are not supported for Premieres. YouTube’s Premiere guidance also excludes 360/VR180 videos and output above 1080p. Review the current Premiere requirements if a sermon uses an unusual format or resolution.
- Channel standing: If the channel has a Community Guidelines strike, a scheduled Premiere may be made private during the penalty period and may need to be rescheduled afterward. Check the channel’s status before relying on the schedule.
- Time-zone display: Confirm the time zone for every scheduled video. YouTube says the date shown on the watch page is based on Pacific Standard Time; for viewers or schedulers in time zones ahead of Pacific time, that date can differ from the one shown in Studio. YouTube explains the date and time-zone behavior.
- Long-range plans: YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not give an exact maximum lead time for scheduling a Premiere. For dates far in the future, verify the available date in the current Studio interface.
- Cadence: Choose a publishing pace the church team can sustain, and tell viewers promptly if a scheduled sermon’s time changes. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable upload schedule in its upload schedule tips.
Promote the watch page and host the chat
Each Premiere has its own pre-release landing page and URL. Share that link in the church newsletter, on the church website, through social channels, or in pinned comments, and invite members to set a reminder. A pastor or host can join the live chat to greet viewers and answer questions while moderators help keep the conversation focused. YouTube recommends chat moderation and documents options including moderator roles, blocked words and slow mode in its Premiere tips.

Optional Premiere features and eligibility
YouTube documents optional ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, memberships, countdown themes and trailers for Premieres. These features are not required to schedule sermons, and availability depends on channel eligibility. For example, YouTube’s trailer instructions specify more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; check the channel’s Studio options rather than assuming a church qualifies. See YouTube’s Premiere customization guidance.

A Premiere is for a scheduled shared viewing of a recording; it is not a 24/7 looping YouTube livestream. If the church instead wants uploaded sermon recordings to play continuously on a YouTube channel, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload the videos, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
