How to Fix Audio Drifting Out of Sync in an XSplit Broadcaster 24/7 Stream

Find out whether XSplit audio sync is wrong from the start or drifts over time, then check the global or source-level setting that matches the affected input.

First find out whether the audio is out of sync from the start or drifts farther out over time—and whether the problem affects every audio source or only one. Then adjust the matching control: use global capture delay for a device-wide issue, or a source’s Offset (ms) for a single input. XSplit documents these controls, but not one universal cause or setting that prevents drift in every 24/7 setup.

Identify what kind of sync problem you have

Compare the stream or a local recording near the beginning of a run with one from later on. Note whether the offset is already present at the start or grows, and whether it affects the microphone, system audio, camera audio, or all of them. This comparison is a practical diagnostic approach, not a test protocol or result published by XSplit.

  • Same offset throughout: A consistent early mismatch is different from one that accumulates. Identify the affected input before changing a delay.
  • Only one input is affected: Check that input’s source-level offset before changing global audio settings.
  • Several or all inputs are affected: Inspect the global device selections and capture delays in Tools > Settings > Audio.
  • Stream and local recording differ: Treat this as a clue about where the mismatch enters the workflow; include both results when troubleshooting.

Make sure you are not confusing capture sync with viewer delay

Stream Delay delays delivery to viewers. It is not the control for correcting an audio input’s sync offset. XSplit also notes that transport and transcoding affect what viewers experience, so the configured delay is not necessarily the exact delay each viewer sees. Use the input or source controls below to investigate capture sync, not the output delay setting. See XSplit’s Output Plugin Properties and Setting Up Stream Delay.

Check global audio settings for a device-wide problem

  1. Open Tools > Settings > Audio.
  2. Verify that the selected System Sound and Microphone devices are the inputs you intend to use.
  3. Inspect each device’s capture-delay setting. Change a relevant delay only if the symptom points to that device, and change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it helped.
  4. Check Audio Mixing Sample Rate against the device and output or recording workflow. XSplit documents this setting for matching specific output sources and for legacy devices that cannot accommodate 48 kHz. It is a compatibility control, not a documented guaranteed cure for gradual drift.
  5. Observe the actual recording or stream again after a change; do not rely only on the stage preview.

XSplit describes the Audio tab as the place to select captured devices, set audio capture delay, and configure related audio options. Its Settings documentation does not prescribe one sample rate or delay value for all systems.

Adjust an individual source instead of shifting everything

Audio Device source

Select the Audio Device source and open its properties. Check Offset (ms), which is intended to correct sync for that particular audio input. Also check whether Audio Output is routed as Stream Only or System Sound, as appropriate for your setup. Avoid using a global delay to fix a mismatch isolated to this source. See XSplit’s Audio Device guide.

Camera or capture-card source

Open the Camera/Capture Card source properties and inspect its Offset (ms) setting. XSplit documents this offset for sync between that source’s camera video and audio. Device configuration options depend on the device. See Camera/Capture Card.

Check the outgoing output and system load

A stage-preview slowdown does not by itself prove that viewers receive a bad stream: XSplit prioritizes livestreaming or recording over the stage preview. If the actual output or recording has dropped frames, investigate system load and output conditions. XSplit recommends checking CPU and GPU use, closing competing processes, reviewing stage and encoding settings, and checking bandwidth or network conditions for livestreams. Dropped frames are worth investigating, but XSplit does not say they explain every case of gradual audio drift. Follow its FPS-related troubleshooting guidance.

Check release notes for your installed version

Audio-delay controls have changed across XSplit releases, so compare your installed build with the notes for that version rather than assuming an older guide matches the current interface. The October 2024 release notes describe adding delay settings for global devices in both Presentation Sources and System Devices modes. The May 2025 notes say global-device delay could be set directly in the Audio Mixer. The July 2025 notes include a fix for newly added audio devices whose delay values could not be retrieved. These dated changes do not establish that a particular build is causing your drift.

When the drift continues

If the mismatch still accumulates after checking the relevant controls, give XSplit support enough detail to distinguish a source issue from a workflow or version issue. Include:

  • Your XSplit Broadcaster build number.
  • The audio device and connection path, plus whether you use Presentation Sources or System Devices mode.
  • The Audio Mixing Sample Rate and any global capture delays or source offsets.
  • Whether a local recording has the same drift as the outgoing stream, and approximate offsets near the start and later in the run.
  • A log archive. XSplit’s Settings page says system-information logging is available for troubleshooting.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the wider problem is keeping a prerecorded YouTube stream running around the clock, StreamNeo is a cloud option rather than an XSplit sync correction. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and gives the first day free with no card. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
