If XSplit Broadcaster media sources show offline after you move to another PC, make the original files available on the new computer, then select each file again in that source’s properties. XSplit’s documented instructions cover changing the media file for an individual source; they do not describe a bulk relink tool. If a correctly linked source instead appears black, use the separate playback troubleshooting steps below.
Relink the offline media sources
- Make the files available on the new PC. Copy the original images, videos, and audio files to it, or connect storage that contains them. Keeping filenames and folder organization recognizable can make it easier to identify the right files. A portable external SSD is one optional way to carry a collection; it does not relink sources automatically.
- Open the XSplit presentation and locate the sources marked offline.
- Open the affected source’s properties. Right-click the source, then use the Media Source control to browse to and select the corresponding file on the new PC. XSplit documents this control as the way to change the file linked to that source. XSplit’s Image, Video, and Audio Source guide gives examples of supported media formats, including PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP, TIFF, MP4, FLV, WEBM, and MP3; it does not promise identical playback for every format on every machine.
- Check the source in the scene. Repeat the process for each offline source. The documentation describes changing a source’s file, not a bulk relink workflow.
Presentation transfer does not establish media transfer
XSplit’s Presentation Switcher documentation describes importing and exporting presentations and labels the feature Public Beta only. It does not state that external media files used by sources are included in an exported presentation. Treat the presentation and its media assets as separate items to move unless the version you use explicitly documents otherwise.
XSplit’s infrastructure FAQ says scenes, sources, and settings remain on the user’s device during its infrastructure transition. That describes persistence on a device, not automatic copying to another PC. The FAQ also contains guidance for legacy versions tied to licenses created before September 3, 2025; check the current FAQ and your account situation before acting on version advice. If the relinked source displays black
A black source is a different symptom from a missing or offline file reference. First confirm that the intended file is selected and can play on the new PC. Then try the steps in XSplit’s black-source troubleshooting guide: change Advanced video processing mode to Prefer GPU, or, if the setting is available, disable Use Media Foundation Engine for video playback. These are playback/display troubleshooting steps, not fixes for an unavailable file.

XSplit’s December 2024 release notes identify Broadcaster version 4.5.2412.0304 and list fixes for particular media playback issues, including a GPU-mode failure with specific media files. That is historical release information, not evidence that a current version provides a general migration fix. See the December 2024 release notes.
