1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo stream through XSplit Broadcaster using a scheduled YouTube event, create the event in YouTube Studio first, then select it from XSplit’s Live Event List in the YouTube Live output. This starts a scheduled broadcast; it does not, by itself, make a channel reliably live indefinitely. YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive, and DVR rewind on very long streams may be limited or unavailable.
Before you begin
- YouTube Live access: XSplit’s guide says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time enablement may take up to 24 hours for approval. See XSplit’s YouTube Live guide.
- XSplit Broadcaster: Have it installed and ready to use, with a YouTube Live broadcast output configured.
- Event details: Decide on the title, description, visibility, and scheduled start time before creating the YouTube event.
Exact labels and layouts can change as YouTube Studio and XSplit update; the workflow below follows their published help instructions.
Create and connect the scheduled event
-
Schedule the stream in YouTube Studio
Open YouTube Studio, select Go Live, open Manage, then choose Schedule Stream. Enter the event details, configure customization, visibility, and schedule, then finish with Done. YouTube’s encoder streaming guide explains that scheduling creates an upcoming watch page that you can share with viewers.
-
Open the event’s Stream Setup page
In YouTube Studio’s Manage area, select the scheduled event and keep its Stream Setup page available. Confirm you have selected the intended event before starting the encoder.

-
Select that event in XSplit

Choose who starts the YouTube event
XSplit’s Manual Transition setting determines whether starting the XSplit output also starts the YouTube event automatically:

| Setting | What happens when you start the XSplit output | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Manual Transition checked (XSplit guide’s default) | You must also click Go Live in YouTube Creator Studio. | Use this when you want to inspect the YouTube preview and explicitly confirm the event before viewers see it. |
| Manual Transition unchecked | Starting the XSplit output automatically starts the YouTube stream; a separate YouTube Go Live click is not required. | Use this only when you intend XSplit to trigger the event as soon as its output starts. |
Choose the behavior before starting the output. With the manual option enabled, starting XSplit alone does not mean the scheduled event is live.
Prepare, start, and monitor the broadcast
-
Allow setup time
YouTube recommends configuring an encoder stream at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. This gives you time to check the incoming feed and resolve setup issues. See YouTube’s livestreaming tips.

Check the preview before going live
Start the XSplit output early enough for the feed to appear in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm the correct event is selected, the preview is reachable, and audio and video are coming through as expected. If Manual Transition is checked, click Go Live in YouTube Creator Studio only after that check.
-
Verify viewer access and keep watch
Check that the event is reachable from its watch page or channel page, and monitor audio and video throughout the broadcast. For a channel where continuity matters, YouTube recommends testing failover with a backup encoder, checking local archive-file growth, and confirming access from mobile as well as the channel or watch page. These are operational checks, not a promise of uninterrupted delivery.

What “nonstop” means for a scheduled event
A scheduled event is a way to announce and start a broadcast at a chosen time; it is not evidence that a single XSplit session will run indefinitely or recover automatically from every interruption. The published instructions explain event selection and transition behavior, but do not establish an XSplit uptime guarantee or automatic recovery guarantee.
- Archive limitation: YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
- DVR limitation: YouTube says DVR rewind for very long streams may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. This concerns playback and rewind, not a universal cutoff that proves a live session must end at 12 hours. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.
If a long-running channel is important, plan for active monitoring and a tested backup encoder rather than assuming scheduling alone supplies failover. Separately scheduled sessions may make event management easier, but the official guidance cited here does not establish a single best session length for every channel.

End the event deliberately
Do not treat every disconnect as a harmless pause. XSplit says selecting the active livestream and confirming Yes also ends the associated YouTube event. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe ending the event in Live Control Room and stopping the encoder. Decide which operator controls these actions, and make sure the intended event is finished before confirming. See XSplit’s scheduled-event instructions and YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The scheduled event is missing from XSplit’s Live Event List. | The event was not created in YouTube Studio, or the wrong YouTube Live output/account is selected. | Confirm the event appears under YouTube Studio Manage, then reopen the correct YouTube Live output in XSplit and check the event list. |
| XSplit is sending video, but the YouTube event has not gone live. | Manual Transition is checked, so a separate confirmation is still required. | Check the event preview in Live Control Room, then click Go Live in YouTube Creator Studio if that is the intended transition. |
| You cannot enable YouTube Live or start a broadcast. | The channel may not meet YouTube Live access requirements, may have a recent restriction, or first-time enablement may still be pending. | Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions. XSplit says first-time approval may take up to 24 hours. |
| The preview or viewer page is not behaving as expected. | The wrong event may be selected, the stream may not have been started, or the incoming audio/video may need attention. | Verify the selected event and Live Control Room preview, then check viewer access and monitor audio and video before relying on the broadcast. |
| A very long stream has no complete archive or full rewind. | YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be archived and very long-stream DVR may be limited or unavailable. | Plan around YouTube’s archive and DVR limits; do not assume the scheduled event itself guarantees a complete recording. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I schedule the YouTube event before configuring XSplit?
Yes. Create the event in YouTube Studio first, then select it in XSplit’s Live Event List.
Does an XSplit scheduled event keep streaming if my computer shuts down?
No. This workflow uses XSplit Broadcaster as the encoder on your computer; the scheduled event does not move encoding to the cloud.
