There is no single monthly electricity cost for using PRISM Live Studio to stream to YouTube in India. PRISM is software; the electricity is used by the phone or computer running it, along with any display and peripherals. To estimate the added energy charge, measure the setup’s average power draw at the wall, multiply it by your monthly streaming hours, and apply your own tariff.
Calculate the electricity cost for your setup
Use these two steps:
- Monthly energy (kWh) = average wall draw (W) × total streaming hours in the month ÷ 1,000.
- Estimated added energy charge = monthly energy (kWh) × your applicable marginal energy charge (₹/kWh).
For a regular daily schedule, use average watts × streaming hours per day × days streamed, then divide by 1,000. This estimates the added energy charge, not the full electricity bill, which can also include fixed charges, duties, adjustments and subsidy effects.
Example calculation (hypothetical, not a PRISM usage figure)
If a setup measured 100 W at the wall and streamed for 4 hours on each of 30 days, it would use 12 kWh: 100 × 4 × 30 ÷ 1,000. At a hypothetical marginal rate of ₹7 per kWh, the estimated added energy charge would be ₹84. These assumed inputs illustrate the arithmetic only; they are not a measured or typical PRISM cost.
Measure the phone or computer’s actual energy use
A plug-in electricity usage meter with a cumulative kWh display can measure a computer setup at the wall. Measure during the actual workflow you plan to use, including the display and peripherals you will keep on. A smart plug is useful for this purpose only if its specific model supports energy monitoring; switching alone does not measure consumption. No particular meter model is endorsed here.

Do not treat a computer power supply’s rated wattage as the computer’s measured draw. PRISM’s desktop guidance says sources, scenes, encoder settings, resolution and frame rate affect system load, but it does not publish a universal streaming wattage. PRISM’s mobile getting-started guide supports streaming to YouTube and lists Android 10 and iOS 16 as minimum operating-system versions; those requirements do not establish how much electricity a particular phone uses.
Phone versus computer
Neither path can be called cheaper without measuring comparable workflows. Compare the wall energy used during your planned stream, the hours you stream, and the tariff applied to the added units. A phone’s battery percentage loss is not directly equivalent to a wall meter’s kWh reading because charging and conversion losses vary.

Use your own Indian electricity tariff
There is no single India-wide household energy rate to use for this estimate. The Ministry of Power says retail tariffs are determined by the appropriate State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and state governments may provide subsidies to consumer classes. Your bill or the applicable DISCOM tariff schedule is the relevant source for your category and marginal rate. The Central Electricity Authority’s tariff publication compiles state and utility schedules; its tariff page identifies a March 2026 edition.
A geographically limited example: Lakshadweep
The Department of Electricity, Union Territory of Lakshadweep lists these FY 2026–27 LTDS-II Domestic Service energy charges. They are an example for that jurisdiction, not rates for India as a whole:

The same schedule lists a fixed charge of ₹25 per kW per month. Added streaming use may affect which energy slab applies, so check how your utility bills incremental units rather than assuming one slab rate applies to every household.
Why a universal PRISM monthly figure would mislead
- PRISM does not have one fixed power draw: the device and the stream workload determine consumption.
- Monthly hours vary; occasional streams and daily streams produce different energy totals.
- Tariffs differ by state, utility and consumer category, and subsidies can affect what a household pays.
- No representative PRISM-specific wattage or monthly cost is established by the cited official material.
For a PRISM YouTube livestream, the useful answer is therefore your measured kWh multiplied by your applicable marginal tariff—not a generic “average Indian electricity rate.”
