You can run a prerecorded video as a YouTube livestream with PRISM Live Studio on a low-cost PC, but first check whether the computer meets PRISM’s published Windows minimum: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), an Intel Core i3-9100 or higher, 8 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or equivalent. Meeting that baseline does not guarantee a stable broadcast. Keep the scene simple, confirm how your installed PRISM version repeats media, use modest output settings, and rehearse privately before relying on the stream.
Check whether your PC can handle PRISM
PRISM Live Studio’s current desktop guide lists these Windows specifications. They are the vendor’s documented baseline, not an independent performance test or a guarantee that a particular video will stream smoothly.

Check your PC’s processor, memory, graphics hardware and Windows edition before setting up the scene. A prerecorded, mostly static video is a simpler workload than a game capture with animated overlays, but encoding still uses CPU or GPU resources and the stream still needs stable upload capacity. PRISM warns that source count and output settings can cause problems even on a machine that meets its minimum.
PRISM Live Studio’s team warned on October 27, 2022, that broadcasting on a low-spec PC can lead to abnormal app termination, stuttering or repeated cuts in the broadcast image. If the PC falls below the listed minimum, or is close to it, treat streaming as uncertain and run a short private rehearsal before depending on it.

Prepare a simple scene and confirm the video repeats
Use a local video file at or below your planned broadcast resolution, so PRISM does not needlessly downscale it. Keep the scene to the video, necessary audio and, if needed, one simple static label. Avoid browser widgets, multiple scenes, filters and animation on a constrained computer. PRISM notes that larger media can use more CPU; hardware decoding may reduce CPU work when a stronger GPU is available, but it shifts work to the GPU.
Try PRISM Media Source first
- In PRISM, open Sources, choose Add Source, then select Media Source.
- Select the local video file and check playback. If you use Studio Mode, PRISM’s guide notes that media may not autoplay after being added; use the source’s playback or restart controls as appropriate.
- Open the installed version’s media-source properties and look for a repeat or loop control. The available PRISM instructions do not establish whether the current desktop version has one, so verify it in your own installation.
- Play the source long enough to check that both video and audio continue as intended. Confirm what happens at the end of the file before starting a public stream.
If Media Source has no repeat control
A practical fallback is to open the file in a local player with repeat enabled and add that player as a window-capture source in PRISM. This is a workaround, not a tested recipe: it adds a running program and capture source, which may use more system resources. Keep the scene otherwise minimal, then watch CPU and GPU load and check that audio and video stay synchronized across a repeat.

Choose conservative video and encoder settings
Use PRISM’s Video settings to select a resolution and frame rate the PC can sustain. Higher resolution, frame rate and bitrate increase demands on the computer or network. For a static prerecorded loop, 30 FPS is a conservative starting point, not a tested guarantee. If you see dropped frames or transmission delays, reduce output demands and rehearse again.
In Settings > Output, select Advanced mode to expose streaming encoder controls. When a compatible dedicated NVIDIA or AMD GPU is available, PRISM recommends using its hardware encoder. If encoding with x264 or x265 on the CPU, PRISM advises the veryfast preset because slower presets consume more CPU.

Choose a bitrate that fits the selected output quality and the upload capacity that remains stable on your connection. The available guidance does not establish a guaranteed bitrate for this PC, video or Indian internet connection, so do not assume that a high value is safe just because YouTube can accept it. Test your intended settings during a rehearsal.
Link YouTube and rehearse before going public
Create and authenticate your YouTube channel before trying to select it in PRISM. PRISM’s FAQ says channel creation and authentication must be completed before the channel appears in the app. A private rehearsal helps catch playback, audio, output and connection problems without relying on a public session.

- Link or authenticate your YouTube account in PRISM, then select the intended channel.
- Enter the stream title, category and visibility, and check that the destination is the correct channel.
- Use PRISM’s YouTube rehearsal function to check the video, audio and continuity. Confirm that the loop behaves correctly when the file reaches its end.
- When ready, choose Go Live in PRISM and confirm the stream information. Choose Finish when you want to stop.
Only stream video and audio you have permission to use. A technical rehearsal does not determine whether content meets YouTube’s copyright rules or other channel requirements.

PRISM reports “Failed to connect to the server” (57998)
For this specific RTMP connection error, PRISM advises users in India and Indonesia to try its IPv4 setting. It attributes the issue to a conflict involving IPv6 transition policies and some ISP network infrastructure; this is a troubleshooting branch, not a required change for every Indian connection.

- In PRISM, open Settings > Advanced > Network.
- Set IP Family to IPv4 Only and enable Network Optimizations.
- Apply the changes and restart PRISM, then try connecting again.
The stream starts, then buffers or ends
- Video stutters or frames drop: Reduce resolution, FPS or bitrate, remove unnecessary sources and close resource-intensive apps. This points toward PC or output load; a cable cannot fix an underpowered encoder.
- Transmission delays or disconnections: Check connection stability and available upload capacity. A wired connection may help if the local Wi-Fi link is unstable, but it will not increase the capacity supplied by your ISP.
- YouTube rejects the stream or the channel is unavailable: Recheck account authentication, selected channel and stream destination. PRISM lists invalid or deleted channel permissions among possible reasons a stream can end.
- Playback stops at the file’s end: Check whether the installed Media Source exposes repeat. If it does not, test the external-player workaround and its system load before going live.
