Streamlabs Mobile’s published guides describe streaming your phone’s camera or screen and customizing a scene with widgets, themes, and images; they do not show how to add a video saved on your phone as a scene source. Screen-sharing a player may be a workaround, but reliable capture of both the picture and sound is not established in those guides.
What Streamlabs Mobile documents
Streamlabs’ Mobile instructions describe camera streaming and phone-screen streaming, along with scene customization using widgets, overlay themes, and custom images. Its YouTube-from-phone guide likewise covers going live from the camera or streaming screen/game content. Neither guide documents selecting a locally stored video as a direct scene source.
That is a limit of the documented workflow, not proof that every version of the app is technically incapable of doing it. App and operating-system behavior can change, and these instructions do not settle what every iOS or Android device can capture.
Can screen sharing show a video from your camera roll?
Possibly, if you play the clip in a phone video player and stream the screen. But the reviewed guidance does not guarantee that a particular device will transmit the video’s image and audio together. Screen capture may also behave differently by device, operating-system settings, player, or content-protection restrictions. Test with a non-sensitive clip and a private or otherwise appropriate stream setup before relying on it.

- Confirm that the stream preview shows the moving picture, not just the player interface or a blank area.
- Check the stream from a second device to confirm that its audio is audible and synchronized.
- Test starting, pausing, and switching clips before using this method for a planned broadcast.
These are practical checks, not guaranteed Streamlabs Mobile controls; the official guides do not provide a specific local-file playback procedure.
When a computer workflow makes more sense
If the clip needs to be a predictable, switchable part of a production, investigate Streamlabs Desktop on a computer. Streamlabs documents scenes and sources in its Desktop workflow, but the guidance cited here does not verify a particular video-file source control or its behavior in your installed version. Check the source options in that version and test playback, audio, and transitions before going live.

Streamlabs also documents an Android Mobile LAN feature that can send a phone camera or screen feed to Desktop over the same local network, where it is added as a Desktop Media Source. This relays the phone’s camera or screen; it is not a documented method for loading a stored video file into Mobile. See Streamlabs’ Android Mobile LAN guide.
Before broadcasting to YouTube
The question of whether Mobile can provide a source is separate from YouTube account eligibility and broadcast settings. Check your current YouTube live settings for your account before preparing a stream, since platform requirements can change. For any clip you use, make sure you have the necessary rights; playing a file through a phone screen does not remove copyright obligations.
