That lets your phone send a camera or screen broadcast to YouTube; it does not make the phone workflow an unattended 24/7 streaming system. For a channel that must keep prerecorded videos looping while your phone and computer are off, use a continuous-stream encoder or cloud service instead.
Before you start: make sure YouTube can accept a live stream
First-time live-streaming access can take up to 24 hours to become available. YouTube also requires channel verification and that the channel not have a recent live-stream restriction. Check eligibility before a scheduled broadcast in YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
You need access to YouTube Studio and Streamlabs Mobile, plus a stable upload connection and a power source suitable for the length of your broadcast. The phone method is for sending a camera or screen feed; it is not a way to upload a prerecorded video and have it loop unattended.
Find the YouTube stream URL and key
- Open YouTube Studio. Go to Live Control Room and create a stream or select an existing one.
- Open the stream settings. Copy the stream URL (sometimes labeled the server URL) and the stream key.
- Keep the key private. Anyone with the key may be able to send a feed to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace it in Streamlabs. See YouTube’s live-stream settings help.
Add the key in Streamlabs Mobile
- Open Streamlabs Mobile and its menu, then go to Account Settings.
- Choose Custom RTMP Server setup.
- Enter a destination label, YouTube’s stream URL, and the stream key you copied from Live Control Room.
- Save the destination. When you start a broadcast, select the saved Custom RTMP destination.
These menu names follow Streamlabs’ published Custom RTMP setup instructions; app labels can change with updates. Streamlabs’ mobile streaming guide also documents connecting a YouTube account directly. If you use that route, select YouTube in the Go Live workflow and choose an active event, create one, or schedule a future event as the app offers.

Test the broadcast before going public
- Set up a private or unlisted test stream in YouTube Studio.
- Use the same camera or screen content and audio setup you intend to use publicly.
- Start the stream from Streamlabs and check that YouTube receives it in the Live Control Room preview.
- Check stream health and audio/video sync, then monitor the broadcast after it begins.
There is no single bitrate or resolution that suits every phone and connection. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance as a starting point, then choose settings your actual upload connection can sustain. A setting that exceeds available upstream bandwidth can cause buffering, dropped frames, or a stream that repeatedly disconnects.
Can Streamlabs Mobile keep a YouTube channel live 24/7?
Not as a documented unattended, always-on solution. Streamlabs Mobile is designed to start a phone camera or screen broadcast, and the published mobile guidance does not promise round-the-clock uptime. The phone, power, and network remain part of the setup. YouTube’s encoder guidance treats 24/7 continuous streaming as a use case for encoder products and services, which is different from operating a broadcast from a phone.

For a continuous channel, compare services and encoders for unattended operation, recovery after a disconnect, support for looping prerecorded content versus a live camera, stream-key security, start/stop controls, monitoring, output quality, and content rights. YouTube’s stream settings include auto-start and auto-stop controls, but those controls do not by themselves make a phone a reliable continuous encoder. Confirm a candidate service’s current capabilities before relying on it.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
YouTube does not show the stream
- Confirm the saved destination contains the correct YouTube server URL and current stream key.
- Check that the channel is eligible for live streaming and that the selected event is active or scheduled as intended.
- Look at Live Control Room for the incoming preview and stream-health messages. If you recently reset the key, update it in Streamlabs too.
Streamlabs shows a live timer, but YouTube is not live
A timer in the app does not prove YouTube is receiving the broadcast. Streamlabs has documented a version-sensitive issue in which its Disconnect Protection could show the app as live despite a server-connectivity problem. Check the current status and workaround in its mobile “looks live but isn’t live” support article before applying any older fix.

The stream disconnects or its quality falls
- Reduce output resolution or bitrate to a level the available upload connection can sustain, using YouTube’s current encoder guidance.
- Check the phone’s power and network conditions. Mobile operation depends on the device and connection remaining available.
- Run another private test and watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators before repeating a public broadcast.

Yes. Streamlabs also documents connecting a YouTube account directly and selecting YouTube in its Go Live workflow.

Can I use a phone tripod mount for an always-on stream?
A mount can steady a fixed camera angle, but it does not provide unattended operation, reliable power, or network failover.
