What the free Larix Broadcaster version includes
Softvelum describes the vast majority of Larix Broadcaster features as available for free. The app is intended for live video and audio broadcasting from a smartphone or tablet. Its product overview lists portrait and landscape streaming with live rotation, front- and rear-camera switching, recording, screenshot saving, pausing with pre-stream stand-by, and audio-only capture. It can send streams to services such as YouTube Live, Twitch and Facebook Live. Availability of individual functions can vary; check Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster overview and Premium feature and subscription page for current terms.
Protocols and destinations
Softvelum lists SRT, RTMP, NDI, WebRTC, RTSP, Zixi and RIST among Larix Broadcaster’s supported protocols. That list should not be read as a promise that each protocol is unrestricted in the free version: Softvelum marks some functions as Premium or time-limited. In particular, Zixi is limited to five minutes without Premium, and the general free-stream duration limit applies as well.
Controls and capture
- Switch between the front and rear cameras; portrait and landscape orientation and live rotation are listed.
- Record content and save screenshots.
- Pause a stream or use stand-by before starting.
- Capture audio without video.
These are app capabilities, not a guarantee that every control will be available on every phone or with every protocol.

The free streaming time limit and watermarks
Softvelum states: “Without Premium, Larix allows streaming for 30 minutes for free + another 30 minutes with mandatory overlay. Then the stream is stopped.” In practice, plan for a maximum of 60 minutes for a free session, with the overlay required during the additional 30 minutes; the stream then stops. Premium removes the streaming time limit for any protocol, according to Softvelum.
Watermarks also depend on protocol. Softvelum says Premium removes watermarks for SRT and RTMP. WebRTC, Zixi, RTSP and RIST do not have watermarks, but are subject to time limits. The five-minute Zixi limit is a separate protocol-specific restriction cited by Softvelum for use without Premium.

What requires Premium
Premium removes the stream-duration limit and adds features that include HEVC encoding, SEI NTP metadata insertion, GPS features, Advanced Connectivity settings, three or more simultaneous connections, and Larix Talkback. Dolby HDR support is listed for iOS. Softvelum’s feature page marks specific capabilities by plan, so verify the current listing if a particular protocol or function is essential.
Premium price examples published by Softvelum
Softvelum lists basic US pricing of $9.99 per month or $119 per year for Premium, with final prices varying by country and taxes. It separately lists NDI support at $19.99 per month in-app and describes NDI through Larix Tuner at an additional $10 per month. These are page-stated examples, not guaranteed checkout totals worldwide. Larix Tuner is a web service for managing multiple Larix app instances and enabling Premium; it is distinct from the Broadcaster license. Larix Player and Screencaster subscriptions have separate terms.

Platform and device differences
Softvelum’s overview states compatibility with iOS 16.0 and Android 7.0 devices. The Android-specific page gives Android 7.0 as its stated minimum and lists platform-specific functions, including SRT Caller, Listen and Rendezvous modes; RTMP/RTMPS; RIST push; RTSP/RTSPS; adaptive bitrate; overlays; and external OTG USB video and audio sources. Individual features can have higher OS or hardware requirements.
On Android, multi-camera selection is supported on Android 10 or later; simultaneous front- and rear-camera capture is supported on Android 11 or later when the device supports concurrent cameras. Camera frame rates and other capabilities also depend on the hardware. Check the overview and Android feature page against your device before relying on a specific feature.

Is the free license enough?
- For a short test or occasional stream: the free version may be sufficient if the session fits within its time limit and your required protocol and features are available without Premium.
- For a stream longer than the free allowance: Premium is the relevant option if you want to keep broadcasting from the phone without the free duration cap.
- For multiple destinations or specialized controls: check the feature-by-feature plan details. Three or more simultaneous connections and several advanced functions are listed as Premium.
