However, its published instructions do not confirm that every Android phone and app version can select a video directly from a removable SD card. Try the clip in CameraFi’s Video source picker before relying on it for a broadcast.
What CameraFi Live supports
CameraFi Live’s Android guide describes adding video files as sources, and its Google Play listing identifies video files as an input and YouTube as a streaming destination. CameraFi’s release notes have mentioned changing the SD-card storage path on Android 11. That establishes that the app has had an SD-card-related storage-path feature; it does not establish that a video on a removable card can be selected as a broadcast source on every current device. How to try streaming the SD-card video
- Check the card and clip. Confirm that Android has mounted the card and that the clip is visible in the phone’s gallery or file picker. If it is not visible there, CameraFi may not be able to select it. Media access permissions and picker behavior vary by Android version and device.
- Open CameraFi Live and choose YouTube. Sign in and begin the broadcast setup. CameraFi’s YouTube guide says live streaming must be enabled for your YouTube account; activation can take time. Check YouTube’s current setup instructions, since account requirements and interface steps can change. CameraFi YouTube guide
- Add the video source. In CameraFi’s main screen, swipe to the Video menu, tap the plus button, and look for the clip in the gallery or source picker. Select it if it appears. This is the file-selection process documented by CameraFi. CameraFi video-source manual
- Complete setup and test. Finish the YouTube broadcast setup. If audio, orientation, aspect ratio, or playback behavior matters, test privately or unlisted before scheduling or promoting a public stream.
If CameraFi cannot find the clip
- Check that the SD card is mounted and the video is visible through the phone’s gallery or file picker.
- Review CameraFi’s media or storage access in Android settings; the permission name and picker flow depend on the Android version and device.
- Try opening the clip from the gallery and confirm that it plays. If it remains unavailable in CameraFi’s Video source picker, the reviewed CameraFi instructions do not provide a universal removable-card workaround.
The cited documentation does not establish that you need a new card, reader, or capture device. Its instructions support video-file sources, but they do not settle direct removable-SD selection for every phone and app version.
