How to Stream a 720p Prerecorded Video to YouTube with Larix on a Low-End Phone

Larix Broadcaster is not documented as a direct player for saved clips. Use Larix Screencaster to capture playback, then test audio, bitrate, and stream stability on your phone.

You can send a prerecorded video from an Android phone to YouTube Live using Larix Screencaster to capture the phone’s screen, but Larix Broadcaster is documented for live camera capture—not as a direct player for a saved video file. Screen-capture audio depends on the Android version, device, and playback app, so test the picture and sound before going live.

What you need to know before starting

Softvelum documents Larix Broadcaster as a live-capture app with camera and audio modes, RTMP output, and recording of the resulting stream. It separately documents Larix Screencaster for capturing Android screen content. For a clip already saved on your phone, the documented approach is therefore to play the clip and stream the screen with Larix Screencaster—not to select the file as a direct input in Larix Broadcaster. This does not guarantee that the clip’s internal audio will be captured.

  • An Android phone running Android 7.0 or later meets Softvelum’s stated minimum for Larix Broadcaster, but that minimum does not establish that a particular low-end handset can encode and stream 720p reliably.
  • Softvelum says Android 10 can capture audio from apps that support external recording. Check whether your playback app and phone allow it; verify sound in YouTube’s preview.
  • Use a stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen bitrate. YouTube recommends testing before a live event and monitoring stream health.

Softvelum’s Larix documentation says, “YouTube recommends Larix among very few mobile encoders.” That is Softvelum’s statement, not an independently verified endorsement. Larix documentation.

Set up a YouTube Live stream and connect Larix

  1. Create the stream: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule an encoder-based live stream, then open Live Control Room.
  2. Copy the connection details: Copy the server URL and stream key shown there. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream.
  3. Add an encoder connection: In the Larix app you are using, create an RTMP or RTMPS connection and enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Softvelum describes the conventional RTMP structure as the server or application URL followed by the stream name/key. Use YouTube’s RTMPS URL if the Larix app supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted streaming: YouTube encoder settings and RTMPS guidance.
  4. Start screen capture: Open Larix Screencaster’s screen-capture mode, start the connection, and then play the prerecorded clip on the phone. Keep the playback and streaming apps from being interrupted by notifications or app switching.
  5. Check the preview and go live: In Live Control Room, confirm that the preview shows the moving picture and that the audio meter or preview confirms sound. Complete YouTube’s manual go-live step if prompted.

Choose 720p settings that match the phone and connection

For H.264 at 720p, YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends 3–8 Mbps at both 30 and 60 fps. It recommends CBR encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of four seconds. These are YouTube’s published guidance values as accessed on October 3, 2026, not a guarantee that a low-end phone or a particular network can sustain them.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Softvelum’s FAQ gives 2,000 kbps as a resolution-matched 720p setting. That is an app-side value and is below YouTube’s current recommended H.264 range. Softvelum also notes that Android devices commonly use VBR; an encoder may exceed its configured bitrate to preserve quality, especially during motion. A configured bitrate therefore may not act as a strict cap. Softvelum says a device with CBR support is needed when a strict low bitrate is required.

Choice What the published guidance says What to consider on a low-end phone
720p at 30 fps, H.264 YouTube recommends 3–8 Mbps, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval (maximum four seconds). Try this only if the handset and upload connection remain stable in a test.
720p at 60 fps, H.264 YouTube also recommends 3–8 Mbps, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval (maximum four seconds). More frequent frames can add work for a constrained phone. If the stream stutters or overheats, test a lower frame rate or resolution.
Larix’s 720p matched value Softvelum’s FAQ lists 2,000 kbps for 720p. This is below YouTube’s 3–8 Mbps recommendation. Test quality and stability rather than treating the number as a guarantee or strict VBR limit.

Larix for Android uses H.264/AVC as its baseline; Softvelum describes HEVC as a premium feature on supported devices. H.264 is the straightforward starting point for this workflow. YouTube also supports HEVC and AV1 ingest, but support from YouTube alone does not mean a low-end phone or the selected Larix app can encode those formats.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Test the phone before relying on 720p

  1. Run a short private or unlisted test using a clip with movement and sound similar to what you plan to stream.
  2. Check that the phone is actually capturing the clip’s audio. Android version alone does not guarantee internal-audio capture; playback-app support matters.
  3. Watch YouTube’s stream health and confirm the stream does not drop frames or lose connection. YouTube advises testing the setup and monitoring health during a stream.
  4. Check that playback is not interrupted by notifications, screen sleep, or switching apps. Also watch for heat and battery drain during the test; no specific battery accessory or hardware threshold is established for this workflow.
  5. If 720p is unstable, reduce the resolution or frame rate and test again. A lower, stable stream is preferable to assuming the phone can sustain a setting it has not demonstrated.

YouTube’s available upload bandwidth needs to accommodate the stream bitrate. Test your actual connection rather than relying on a nominal Wi-Fi or cellular speed; coverage and competing network use can affect results.

Troubleshooting common failures

  • The clip plays, but YouTube shows no video: Confirm that Larix Screencaster is capturing the screen, the correct YouTube connection is active, and the Live Control Room preview has updated.
  • The picture appears without sound: The phone or playback app may not allow internal audio capture. Check the app’s recording behavior and Android version, then run another preview test; do not assume screen capture includes audio.
  • The stream disconnects or health is poor: Check upload stability and whether the connection can sustain the selected bitrate. Test a lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate; with VBR, the configured number may not be a strict ceiling.
  • The phone becomes hot or playback stutters: Screen capture, video playback, and encoding all run on the phone. Stop and let it cool, then test a lower frame rate or resolution. Android 7.0+ is only the stated app minimum, not a performance guarantee.
  • YouTube does not accept the connection: Recheck the server URL and stream key in Larix. If using RTMPS, confirm the selected Larix app supports it. Keep the key private and replace it in YouTube if it has been exposed.

Check copyright and YouTube rules

Streaming a prerecorded clip does not grant permission to use its video or audio. Before broadcasting, make sure you have the necessary rights and review YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream rules. A successful encoder connection does not establish that a clip is cleared for use or that it complies with YouTube’s policies.
