Restreamer can publish a compatible video source to YouTube Live without OBS, but its documentation does not describe accepting a YouTube playlist page URL or automatically moving through that playlist. To stream a playlist, you need a separate, authorized playback source that outputs a format Restreamer accepts—or a service designed to loop uploaded videos.
What Restreamer can do without OBS
Restreamer can send an existing, compatible video source to YouTube Live through its Publication Service. Its YouTube guide says to select Publication Service, enter a valid YouTube streaming ID, save, and start the stream. That means OBS is not inherently required as the source or publishing tool. Restreamer documentation describes the application and its setup; the YouTube publishing procedure is in its YouTube guide.
The distinction is the playlist. Restreamer’s source documentation lists network protocols, including HTTP/HTTPS (with HLS and DASH), RTP, RTSP, RTMP, and SRT for push sources; its pull/receive setup offers SRT, RTMP, and HLS. The reviewed documentation does not list a YouTube playlist page URL as an input or explain automatic playlist advancement. Protocol support alone does not establish that a particular URL—especially a YouTube playlist page—can be ingested. Check Restreamer’s source documentation against the actual source format and current release.
What you need for a continuous playlist
For a playlist workflow, the playback component must be separate from Restreamer unless you have verified a specific compatible input. It must be able to access and play the videos, advance to the next item, and emit a stream in a protocol Restreamer can receive. Restreamer then publishes that incoming source to YouTube.

- Choose an authorized playback source. Confirm it can play each video and proceed through the playlist without requiring a YouTube playlist page URL to be accepted by Restreamer.
- Confirm its output format and accessibility. It must provide a direct, reachable source in a protocol Restreamer supports. A URL that opens a playlist webpage is not necessarily a media stream.
- Set up Restreamer as the publisher. In the Publication Service, enter your valid YouTube streaming ID, save, and start the stream, following the Restreamer YouTube guide.
- Keep the whole chain available. The playback source, Restreamer host, and network connection must remain available for the broadcast to continue.
- Test transitions and recovery. Verify that the source advances between videos and recovers from an unavailable item or interruption. Restreamer’s reconnect control can help reconnect a malfunctioning video process, but it does not establish playlist sequencing or guaranteed uptime.
The official material reviewed does not identify or endorse a particular playlist player for this setup. Before relying on one, check that it can lawfully access the videos, output a supported and reachable stream, advance and retry items, and run continuously alongside Restreamer.
Hosting and what “continuous” requires
Restreamer is presented as a self-hosted Docker application. Its quick start includes persistent configuration and data mounts, as well as network ports; it does not describe a managed, plug-and-play hosting service. A continuous broadcast therefore depends on a host and internet connection that stay available. Restreamer’s quick-start and deployment documentation covers the self-hosted setup.

A reconnect setting is useful for a malfunctioning video process, but it is not a promise that a stream will never stop. Playlist playback, source availability, host uptime, the internet connection, and YouTube’s live service are separate links in the chain.

Only stream material you have rights to rebroadcast
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for the live content on Google services, including music and audiovisual rights. A playlist’s availability on YouTube does not itself grant permission to rebroadcast its videos in a live stream. Use content you own or are authorized to stream. Read YouTube’s terms.

Do not rely on a complete archive for a long-running feed
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive limitation, not a recommendation to end or restart a stream on a particular schedule. Restreamer’s YouTube guide also advises ending the stream on YouTube first; interrupting Restreamer during a live stream may mean YouTube does not save it in its DVR archive.
