If your Restreamer stream reaches YouTube but viewers hear nothing, check the audio path in order: make sure Restreamer is using the real audio source rather than Silence or No audio, confirm that the source check succeeds, inspect filters for muted channels or low volume, then verify the audio codec and format YouTube receives. YouTube Live accepts AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS; for stereo, its published recommendation is AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. A visible video feed alone does not prove that audio is reaching the stream.
1. Check which audio source Restreamer is sending
Open the settings for the active stream and inspect its audio configuration. In Restreamer’s audio wizard, the relevant choices are Audio, Silence, and No audio. The labels can vary by Restreamer version.
- Audio: Select and configure the source that carries the program sound you want viewers to hear.
- Silence: Sends a silent audio track. Restreamer notes that some services, including YouTube, require an active audio channel, but a silent track cannot restore missing program sound.
- No audio: Sends no audio track. If viewers need to hear the stream, choose and configure the real audio source instead.
Restreamer documents the wizard and editable audio settings in the active stream’s general settings. See its wizard documentation and audio settings documentation.
2. Test the source in Restreamer
Use the audio source’s check function and read its detail message if it fails. For the documented network-audio source settings, Restreamer recommends a 44,100 Hz sample rate and offers mono or stereo layouts. Match the selected rate and layout to the actual source and intended output; do not assume that video arriving means the audio input is present.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The documented check workflow does not establish one universal test for every camera, RTMP, or network-audio setup. If the check fails, use its details to investigate the particular source and configuration rather than changing unrelated YouTube settings first. See Restreamer’s audio source guidance.
3. Look for processing that mutes or weakens the signal
If the source check succeeds but the stream is still inaudible, inspect the audio filters in Restreamer. Its documented controls include sample rate, channel layout, pan, volume, and normalization.

- Confirm the selected mono or stereo layout matches the incoming track.
- Check that pan has not muted the channel carrying the sound. Restreamer’s pan control can mute either the left or right channel.
- Make sure volume is not set too low. Normalization can adjust levels, but it cannot recreate audio that is absent from the source.
Filter names or placement may differ by version; consult Restreamer’s audio documentation for the controls.
4. Check the audio encoder format sent to YouTube
For YouTube Live over RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC and MP3 as supported audio codecs. Its advanced recommendations are:

| Audio layout | Sample rate | Bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 44.1 kHz | 128 Kbps |
| 5.1 surround | 48 kHz | 384 Kbps |
These are YouTube’s published live-encoder recommendations, not guarantees that changing them will fix every silent stream. For a stereo feed, a practical baseline to try is AAC, 44.1 kHz, and 128 Kbps. Check the actual encoder or output settings available in your Restreamer setup; do not assume every source or Restreamer version exposes identical controls. YouTube’s current recommendations are in Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
5. Confirm the YouTube publication and read stream health
In Restreamer’s YouTube workflow, use Publication Service, enter a valid YouTube streaming ID, save, and confirm that the connected stream’s bitrate appears in Restreamer. Follow the Restreamer YouTube publication steps.

Then open YouTube Live Control Room and check stream health. YouTube’s error messages help separate an input-path problem from an encoding problem:
- “Your encoder is sending no audio” points toward the source or the audio path through Restreamer.
- An unsupported-codec error points toward the audio encoding format; verify that the output uses AAC or MP3.
YouTube says errors appear beside the health indicator with timestamps. Check the health messages around the time viewers reported silence, then revisit the corresponding source, filter, or encoder stage. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages.

6. Test before going live
Run a private or otherwise appropriate test using representative audio, and monitor stream health while it is running. YouTube specifically recommends testing with audio and video movement similar to what you expect during the live stream. This can reveal a silent input or unsupported output format before viewers encounter it. See YouTube’s encoder settings guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping on a YouTube channel rather than send a live camera or microphone feed through Restreamer, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera.
