There is no verified single “best” or cheapest India VPS for a continuous SRS-to-YouTube stream: the monthly transfer allowance, overage terms and continuous-use rules can matter more than the advertised server price. At YouTube’s recommended 8 Mbps H.264 video bitrate for 720p30, a 30-day stream sends about 2.59 TB of payload before audio and network overhead. Compare providers using your total bitrate and verify India location, renewal cost, transfer limits and nonstop-streaming permission before buying.
What SRS and a VPS each do
SRS (Simple Realtime Server) is media-server software; it is not a VPS plan. The VPS supplies the hosted compute and network connection where SRS runs. SRS can be part of a relay workflow between a stream source and YouTube, and its project documentation describes support for RTMP, WebRTC, HLS, HTTP-FLV, SRT and other formats. The current SRS project README calls SRS/8.0 free and recommends Docker for getting started. See the SRS project and getting-started documentation.
A relay that copies an already encoded stream has a different CPU workload from a server that decodes and re-encodes video. A small VPS that might handle a copy/relay job should not be assumed capable of transcoding your chosen resolution and frame rate.

YouTube bitrate reference points
YouTube’s H.264 live-encoder guidance lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended video bitrate for 720p30, and 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p30. These are video bitrates, not estimates of total monthly traffic. YouTube also recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, with keyframes no more than four seconds apart. Its guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and frame rates up to 60 fps. Check the current YouTube live-encoder settings and verify that your SRS and encoder path support the settings and codec you choose.

Estimate the monthly traffic
At a constant 8 Mbps payload rate for 30 days, the estimated traffic is about 2.59 TB, excluding audio and network overhead. This estimate is from iTechGuides (2026), and is not a universal VPS requirement: your actual total bitrate, operating schedule and reconnects change the result. Include audio, protocol overhead and headroom when working out the transfer you need. If you relay multiple streams, account for each stream’s traffic.
Compare that estimate with the plan’s included outbound transfer, fair-use rules, rate limits and overage price. A headline “unmetered” label or a high port-speed figure does not, on its own, establish the terms for sustained outbound traffic. See iTechGuides’ traffic estimate for the cited 8 Mbps calculation.

How to compare budget VPS plans in India
There is not enough verified, like-for-like pricing, transfer, location and performance information to name a definitive cheapest suitable Indian VPS. Apply the same checks to every candidate, using the provider’s current plan and checkout terms:
- Work out the full recurring cost. Check the billing term, renewal price, currency, taxes and setup fees rather than comparing introductory or headline monthly prices alone.
- Confirm outbound transfer terms. Find the included allowance, what counts toward it, any fair-use or rate limits, and the cost or consequence of exceeding it.
- Verify the data-center location. If an India region matters for your source or administration, confirm that the specific plan is hosted in India. A page aimed at Indian customers does not prove the server is in an Indian data center.
- Match compute to the workload. Identify whether SRS will relay/copy an encoded feed or whether your workflow will transcode. Check CPU and RAM, then test with the actual codec, resolution and frame rate before relying on a small instance.
- Read continuous-use and support terms. Confirm nonstop streaming is allowed and determine what support, maintenance and recovery the provider actually includes.
- Account for administration. A bare VPS does not automatically secure your YouTube stream key, supervise the SRS process, preserve useful logs, restart a failed process or recover after a reboot. Plan and test those tasks yourself.
How to treat an India-focused SRS offer
Inservers markets India streaming VPS plans for RTMP relay and SRS. That is a provider’s marketing claim, not independent proof of sustained performance or fit for every stream. Verify the selected plan’s price, renewal terms, actual location, transfer allowance and continuous-use rules directly with the provider before purchasing. See Inservers’ India streaming VPS page.

VPS or a managed YouTube streaming service?
A VPS offers control over the server but leaves setup and ongoing process maintenance to you. A managed service is a different category, not a like-for-like India-region VPS comparison. For someone who wants an always-on YouTube stream without administering a server, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it keeps uploaded videos running from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on; it does not stream from a camera. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and gives each account one free first day with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. To try it, start the StreamNeo free day.

Before you put a continuous stream into service
- Protect the stream key. Treat it as a credential; do not expose it in public configuration, logs or screenshots. If it is disclosed, replace it in YouTube’s live-control settings and update the relay.
- Check content rights and YouTube rules. A technical relay does not grant rights to music, video or other material. Make sure you have permission for the content and review YouTube’s current live-stream policies before scheduling a continuous broadcast.
- Test failure and recovery. Confirm the process restarts after a server reboot, inspect logs, and check what happens if the source, VPS network or YouTube ingest disconnects.
- Recalculate for your actual stream. Use the intended total bitrate and schedule, not only the video recommendation, when checking the VPS transfer allowance.
Common VPS comparison mistakes
- Choosing only by the lowest listed monthly price: transfer overages, renewal price or setup charges can change the true cost.
- Assuming an India-market page means India hosting: verify the specific region for the plan you will buy.
- Assuming relay and transcoding need the same server: transcoding adds a different compute load; validate the exact workflow.
- Assuming SRS makes the setup managed: process monitoring, stream-key security and recovery still need an owner unless the service explicitly includes them.
