You can relay a Telugu devotional playlist to YouTube with an Nginx-based RTMP setup only if the particular Nginx RTMP module build you choose can publish to YouTube over RTMPS. YouTube provides RTMPS ingest details, but the available documentation does not establish a tested, copy-ready configuration or confirm RTMPS publishing syntax for every module build. Treat that compatibility check as a prerequisite—not as a setting to guess.
What the Nginx RTMP setup does—and what it does not guarantee
An Nginx RTMP relay is software running on a host that stays available and sends a video stream to YouTube. The separate nginx-rtmp-module project describes itself as an NGINX-based media streaming server. That does not establish that every version or build can publish to YouTube’s secure RTMPS endpoint.
YouTube defines RTMPS as RTMP video transported through SSL/TLS. Its RTMPS requirements include a valid RTMPS URL and application path, a connection over port 443, and SNI set to the server hostname. The LiveStreams API can provide primary and backup ingestion addresses. Use the current values YouTube gives your broadcast; do not assume an old tutorial’s endpoint is still right.
Do not confuse the separate RTMP project with NGINX’s built-in HTTP HLS module. The built-in module serves HLS for MP4/MOV media; it is not the RTMP relay. HLS is also a different YouTube ingest protocol, with its own playlist and segment requirements.

Before you build the playlist
Clear the actual recordings and visuals
Confirm that you have permission for the sound recordings, performances or arrangements, and visuals in every item, for the territories where you intend to stream. A devotional theme, a traditional composition, possession of a file, or availability online does not by itself establish rights to stream a particular recording or video. Keep permission records. If you plan to leave the live replay available, confirm that the permission also covers the archived stream.
Plan for YouTube’s live-content checks
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder image or warning; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube advises creators with a license to ask the rights holder to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist. A license limited to certain territories may not prevent interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. Archived live streams can also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends. Copyright or Community Guidelines strikes can terminate a stream.

Choose a host that can stay online
You can use an existing Linux machine, optional always-on local hardware such as a mini PC, or a hosted Linux VPS. Compare whether you can install a compatible module, maintain TLS support, afford the ongoing outbound bandwidth or transfer, monitor the process and recover access, and choose a host location suitable for your needs. A VPS avoids buying a local server; local hardware gives you direct control. Neither choice guarantees uninterrupted service, and no particular provider or hosting price is established here.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and relay
- Build and review the playlist. Arrange only the recordings and visuals cleared for the intended live use. Check that playback advances through the playlist as expected and decide whether YouTube’s live replay will remain available.
- Create or schedule the YouTube live broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room, create or schedule the broadcast, and use its stream settings to obtain the current stream URL and stream key. For an API-managed setup, use the ingestion information on the relevant LiveStreams resource. The labels and exact flow can vary with YouTube’s interface and setup, so use the values shown for this broadcast rather than copying an endpoint from an old guide.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it as a password. Keep it out of public configuration examples, screenshots, logs, and shared repositories. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before relying on the broadcast again.
- Confirm RTMPS publishing support for your exact module build. Before writing the relay configuration, check that the installed nginx-rtmp-module build can publish to an RTMPS destination using TLS and the required hostname-based SNI. Confirm the current directive names and syntax in documentation for that build. The available evidence does not verify a specific configuration, so a purported universal copy-and-paste block would be unsafe.
- Configure the secure YouTube destination. Use YouTube’s current RTMPS ingestion address and application path, connect over port 443, and ensure TLS SNI uses the endpoint hostname. If your build cannot meet those requirements, do not substitute a legacy plain-RTMP endpoint and call it secure RTMPS; use a compatible encoder or relay path instead.
- Start in a private or suitable test mode. Start the playlist and inspect stream health and configuration feedback in YouTube Studio or the API before opening the broadcast to viewers. Resolve reported ingest or configuration problems before treating the relay as ready.
- Monitor the full chain during the broadcast. Check that the host process is alive, the network can reach the ingest endpoint, the playlist continues to advance, YouTube reports healthy ingest, and no rights notices appear. For a continuous broadcast, decide in advance who can restart the relay and what to do if YouTube interrupts the stream.
