ARC Raiders Tips and Tricks: A Practical Guide to Surviving and Extracting

In ARC Raiders, a successful raid is one you survive and extract from—not simply one where you collect the most loot. Set a clear goal, stay aware of both ARC machines and other Raiders, and leave when the risk of losing your progress outweighs what you might gain by staying.

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure from Embark Studios. Raiders scavenge the surface of the Rust Belt while facing ARC machines and, in the classic experience, other players. The official site describes cross-platform social play and lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW; availability and details can change, so check the current official site for the latest platform information.

Before deployment: decide what this raid is for

Pick one main objective

Choose a practical priority before entering: make progress on an objective, collect a particular kind of resource, or get familiar with an area. A focused goal makes it easier to decide whether an item or encounter is worth the detour. If the run is mainly for practice, use a free loadout if that option is available in your current build; loadout options can change.

Match your risk to your purpose

Take equipment you can afford to lose for a learning run, and avoid turning a low-stakes objective into a high-risk fight just because an opportunity appears. The point is not to avoid every threat; it is to avoid spending resources on a fight that does not help the raid.

While moving: protect your ability to get out

Manage stamina and carried weight

Keep mobility in mind as you move and loot. Stamina depletion and a heavy load can make it harder to reposition or follow an extraction plan, so do not treat every available item as worth carrying. Item effects, inventory rules, and control prompts may change between updates; check the current in-game descriptions rather than relying on older button or perk advice.

Pause to listen and use cover

Move deliberately through uncertain areas. Stop briefly when it is safe to listen, use cover when crossing exposed ground, and avoid lingering in a place where your position may become predictable. A January 2026 beginner guide advises that gunfire and other actions can reveal a Raider’s location, but the exact sound rules are not established here and should be verified in the current game.

Loot with a priority, not a completionist mindset

A January 2026 beginner guide recommends prioritizing quest items and rare components, then ARC parts, medical supplies and ammunition, crafting materials, and common items only if space allows. Treat that as a flexible starting order, not a definitive value chart: loot usefulness and item values can shift with updates and with your objective.

  • Keep: items that directly support your current objective or have clear value for your next step.
  • Reconsider: lower-priority loot that adds burden, forces a detour, or makes the route out less manageable.
  • Leave: anything you would not risk the raid to recover if it were lost.

When a threat appears: choose whether to engage

ARC machines and other Raiders create different kinds of danger, but neither automatically deserves a fight. Ask whether engaging advances your objective, protects a necessary route, or merely adds risk and noise. If you do fight, use cover and positioning, and favor controlled shooting over firing without a clear plan. These are general tactics drawn from secondary beginner guidance, not guarantees about how a specific weapon or encounter behaves in the current build.

  • Engage when the encounter is necessary for your goal or you have a clear advantage.
  • Reposition or avoid when the fight would expose you, consume resources you need, or pull you away from extraction.
  • After a fight, reassess your supplies, location, and route rather than automatically continuing to loot or pursue another encounter.

When to extract: let the haul and risk decide

Compare what you have secured and how much objective progress you made with the danger of reaching an extraction point and staying longer. If the next detour offers only marginal value, or your supplies and mobility are already strained, leaving protects the progress you have made. A fuller bag is not useful if the Raider fails to extract.

Before committing to more exploration, ask:

  • Have I already secured the item or progress that justified this run?
  • Do I have enough resources and mobility for the route out?
  • Would another fight or loot stop meaningfully improve this run?
  • Is the risk of continuing greater than the value of what remains?
