If Space Marine 2 stays on “Joining Server” or you cannot join a friend, work through connection checks before assuming the servers are down. Saber Interactive’s guidance starts with your network route and game files; friend-join failures also require checking settings on both players’ connections.
Start with the connection checks Saber recommends
Try these in order. They are diagnostic steps, not a guarantee or a diagnosis of what is wrong with your connection.
- Power-cycle your router. Unplug it for at least 30 seconds, reconnect it, then try the game again. Saber’s general connection guide recommends this as a first check.
- Test another internet route. Try a phone hotspot or another available connection. If the game works there but not on your usual network, that comparison points toward the home connection or its route rather than proving a particular cause.
- Disconnect VPN or proxy software if you use it. Fully disconnect it and relaunch the game. Saber also suggests that players who do not normally use a VPN can test one match with a VPN, but this is optional—not a requirement or a guaranteed fix.
- If a console is on Wi-Fi, try a direct LAN connection. Saber recommends testing Ethernet as a diagnostic. A Cat 6 cable is one option; no premium cable is required, and a wired test is not assured to resolve the problem.
Repair the game installation for your platform
If changing the connection route does not help, check or repair the local game files using the method for your platform. Saber’s general guide provides platform-specific directions:
- Steam or Epic Games Store on PC: use the launcher’s option to verify the game installation.
- Microsoft Store on PC: use the Store or Windows app Repair option described in Saber’s guide.
- PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S: Saber’s console guidance is to reinstall the game.
Use the instructions for the storefront or console where you own the game; PC repair steps are not interchangeable across launchers.

If you cannot join a friend, compare both players’ settings
An invite may arrive but joining can fail or hang on the loading screen; a squad may show as not joinable; or you may be able to play with some friends but not others. These symptoms do not establish that the joining player alone has a problem. As Saber Interactive’s friend-joining guide puts it: “Joining a friend involves two connections, not one, so the setting that blocks you may be on either end.”
Have both players compare the following, changing one factor at a time where possible:

- NAT type: note the NAT type shown on each player’s platform or network. Saber says Strict NAT frequently fails and suggests checking whether UPnP is enabled on the router. Router controls and labels vary, so consult the router’s own documentation rather than changing unrelated security settings.
- Crossplay: check whether it is enabled or disabled for each player. Make sure you are comparing the actual settings on both accounts, not just the host’s.
- Platform pairing and region: record each player’s platform and region. If the failure occurs with one friend but not another, those differences are useful diagnostic details, not proof of a specific incompatibility.
For PC friend-joining problems, Saber’s guide also gives alternative DNS settings. Follow its platform-specific instructions at the friend-joining support page rather than guessing DNS values.
Treat CSF, N-2, N-10, and N-14 as a separate case
If one of these codes appears, Saber’s error-code guide says the game reached its servers but the session was refused. That is different from a generic “Joining Server” hang with no code. For these named codes, Saber recommends:

- Test with crossplay turned off. Record the result, then restore the setting if it makes no difference.
- Try alternative DNS settings. Use the values and steps in Saber’s code-specific instructions for your platform.
- Check antivirus and firewall exceptions on Windows. Confirm that the game is allowed through the relevant protection. Do not turn off the firewall wholesale.
Send support details if the checks do not resolve it
Use the relevant route from the Focus Entertainment support index, which links to separate PC, Steam, Epic, PS5, Xbox, and network troubleshooting sections. A clear report helps support distinguish a general connection issue from a friend-session or code-specific failure.
- For a friend-joining failure, include both players’ platforms, regions, NAT types, crossplay status, and the exact error or symptom.
- For CSF, N-2, N-10, or N-14, include the code, your region, ISP, and the result of the crossplay-off test.
- For a general connection failure, describe whether the router power-cycle, alternate connection, VPN/proxy disconnection, and platform-specific file repair changed the outcome.
A “Joining Server” screen by itself does not confirm a live outage. The official support index is a troubleshooting and reporting route, not a live server-health reading.
