Before choosing a provider, enable live streaming on your channel, check your content rights, and confirm that the service supports the playlist, quality, storage, and billing arrangements you need in India.
What you need before starting
A 24/7 playlist stream is an ongoing live broadcast made from prerecorded video files. The cloud provider stores and sends those files to YouTube; it does not make a YouTube playlist URL itself into a live feed. You still need an eligible YouTube channel, content you are entitled to stream, and a way to monitor the broadcast.
- An eligible channel: YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch.
- Video files and a playlist: Check whether the service requires files to be uploaded into its own storage, how much storage is included, and how it handles playlist order and looping.
- A connection to YouTube: Depending on the service, you will either authorize a channel connection or provide a YouTube stream URL and stream key.
- Rights to every element: Confirm that you have the necessary rights for the live broadcast and any archive, including music, performances, images, and other material embedded in each video.
Run a short test before committing to a long broadcast. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed, that the public watch page works as intended, and that the video and audio play correctly.
Choose how to keep the stream running
For a 24/7 prerecorded stream, start with a hosted playlist service if you want the files and continuous playback handled in the cloud. YouTube’s encoder documentation lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streams. Other approaches include operating an encoder yourself or using a configurable cloud encoder; the latter may require more setup than a playlist-focused service.

Before paying for any service, ask whether it is available to customers in India, what currency and taxes apply at checkout, how many streams can run at once, what happens after a YouTube connection drops, and how you can monitor or stop a stream. Do not assume a provider has India-region data storage or a particular uptime commitment unless it states those terms.
Prepare the YouTube channel and content
Enable live streaming early
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and follow the prompts to enable live streaming if it is not already available.
- Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Allow up to 24 hours for first-time live-stream enablement. Confirm that the channel can create a test stream before scheduling a long-running broadcast.
Check every video and the playlist
Make a coherent playlist, confirm its order and loop behavior, and review each item for audience suitability. Set accurate stream metadata so viewers understand what is playing. A hosted service may need its own copies of your files: for Gyre, the help documentation specifically says to upload files to Gyre storage rather than relying on a YouTube upload or playlist.

Gyre’s preparation guidance lists 1920×1080 or 1280×720 resolution, H.264 video, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, 128 kbps audio, and 30 fps. These are provider-specific recommendations, not universal YouTube settings; check Gyre’s current instructions before encoding. For other services, use their current accepted formats and limits rather than assuming these values apply.
Clear the rights
YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have the rights needed for worldwide use of the live content, including music rights, and to comply with applicable rules and regulations. Owning or having uploaded a video does not automatically mean you may rebroadcast every song, performance, image, or licensed element inside it. Check permissions for the livestream and any resulting archive, and follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

Connect the service to YouTube and launch a test
For a stream-key connection
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Choose or create a stream key and copy the stream URL and key into the provider’s encoder settings. YouTube describes stream keys as the password and address that let an encoder send the feed.
- Keep the key private. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the provider with the replacement.
- Choose RTMPS when the service offers it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which protects the encoder-to-YouTube connection with TLS.
For an authorized channel connection
If the provider asks you to connect your YouTube account rather than enter a key, review the requested permissions and make sure you are authorizing the intended channel. Follow the provider’s current connection steps; do not grant access to an account or channel you did not mean to use.
Test before leaving it unattended
- Start with a short test or scheduled test stream.
- Check the preview in Live Control Room, including picture, audio, playlist order, and whether looping behaves as expected.
- Open the public watch page and confirm it is accessible to the intended audience.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health indicators and any warnings before moving to a long-running broadcast.
YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. Use the provider’s settings to meet that guidance where configurable. For bitrate, choose YouTube’s current encoder-setting range for your output resolution and available connection rather than applying a single bitrate to every stream.

Plan for interruptions and archives
A hosted provider can keep the feed running without a local computer sending it, but it adds dependence on that provider and does not remove the need to check your channel and stream. Find out how its recovery works if YouTube drops the connection, how it reports problems, and what you need to do if the provider itself becomes unavailable.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will be retained in full. If preserving a complete replay matters, verify current archive and DVR behavior before launch and keep a separate authorized source archive where appropriate.

Common problems and fixes
