For a conventional H.264 YouTube Live stream, set OBS to 10,000 kbps for 1080p at 30 fps or 12,000 kbps for 1080p at 60 fps. YouTube’s recommendations are the same for creators in India as elsewhere; choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain, then test the actual stream.
Which bitrate should you use?
| OBS output | YouTube H.264 live recommendation | YouTube-listed minimum | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps (10,000 kbps in OBS) | 5 Mbps | Use this for ordinary motion when 30 fps is sufficient or when you want less system and bandwidth demand than 60 fps. |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps (12,000 kbps in OBS) | 6 Mbps | Use this when smoother motion matters and both your computer and connection can sustain the higher setting. |
These are YouTube-published live ingestion figures for H.264, accessed in 2026—not a guarantee of stable delivery on a particular Indian broadband or mobile connection. The minimum is not the recommended target. YouTube recommends testing your upload bitrate; the actual stable capacity of your connection matters more than the speed advertised on a plan. The available guidance does not establish a special India-specific multiplier, ISP ranking, or fixed speed cushion.
Set OBS for a 1080p YouTube Live stream
- Choose your output size and frame rate. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set Output (Scaled) Resolution to 1920×1080 and choose the intended Common FPS Value: 30 or 60. Select the frame rate you can maintain; OBS notes that 60 fps can demand more from the computer than 30 fps.
- Set the streaming bitrate and live rate control. Open Settings → Output and configure the streaming output. If OBS is set to Advanced output mode, choose the live-appropriate rate-control and encoder options. Set rate control to CBR, as YouTube recommends, and enter 10,000 kbps for 1080p30 or 12,000 kbps for 1080p60.
- Set the keyframe interval. Set keyframe frequency to 2 seconds. YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. If you change frame rate, check that the keyframe interval still produces a keyframe every two seconds.
- Use a supported stream protocol and audio format. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its listed live encoder choices include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, with AAC or MP3 audio. The 10 and 12 Mbps figures above are specifically YouTube’s H.264 recommendations; do not assume those same figures are the recommended targets for a different codec.
- Connect OBS to your YouTube stream. Use the stream key and connection details for the intended YouTube live stream in OBS. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to that stream. Do not publish it in a screenshot, recording, or public post.
- Run a realistic test before relying on the loop. Test with motion and audio similar to what the loop will contain, then check YouTube’s stream health. OBS also recommends testing before the first stream. A speed test can help assess upload capacity, but it does not replace checking a live test under the conditions in which you plan to stream.
Does a loop need a different bitrate?
No separate loop-specific bitrate is established in YouTube’s published live recommendations. The recommendation is based on the stream’s resolution, frame rate, and codec—not on whether the content repeats. A mostly static loop may look acceptable at a lower bitrate, but that is a content-dependent choice to validate with a test, not an alternative YouTube-published target.
Do not substitute YouTube’s upload-video bitrate settings for live encoder settings. Upload encoding is a different workflow and has a separate table; the figures here are for sending a live stream to YouTube.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose 30 or 60 fps
Choose 1080p30 when
- The loop does not need the extra motion smoothness of 60 fps.
- Your computer or connection is more reliable at the lower frame rate and bitrate.
Choose 1080p60 when
- Smoother motion is important for the content.
- Your computer can encode at 60 fps consistently and your connection can hold YouTube’s 12 Mbps H.264 recommendation.
Moving from 30 to 60 fps raises YouTube’s H.264 recommendation from 10 to 12 Mbps and can place more demand on the computer. Test the exact combination before using it for a long-running stream.
Troubleshoot bitrate and stream problems
- OBS reports dropped frames or the stream health is poor: the connection may not be sustaining the configured bitrate. Test upload capacity, then try a lower bitrate or reduce the frame rate or resolution and test again. Do not assume that an advertised connection speed will be available continuously for streaming.
- The stream looks unstable even though the bitrate matches the recommendation: the recommendation is not a stability guarantee. Check the actual upload performance and run a realistic test; lower the output demand if the connection cannot sustain it.
- YouTube reports a keyframe or frame-rate issue: verify the chosen frame rate in Settings → Video and set the keyframe interval so keyframes arrive every two seconds.
- The image looks poor despite a stable stream: verify that the output resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate are the values you intend to send. A lower bitrate may suit a simple loop, but compare the result in a test rather than treating it as a universal setting.
- The stream stops during a long loop: bitrate guidance does not establish that a loop will run indefinitely without interruption. Check YouTube and OBS stream status and reconnect or restart as needed; a correct bitrate alone cannot guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.
Copyright and YouTube rules for a continuous loop
Bitrate settings do not grant permission to broadcast the material in a loop. Before streaming, make sure you have the rights or licenses needed for the video, music, game footage, and any other material you use, and review the terms that apply to your channel and stream. Repeating content does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube may apply its policies independently of whether OBS is configured correctly. Use the copyright safety checklist as a practical pre-stream check.
