A cloud PC gives you desktop-level control, but you must configure and monitor the encoder and budget for the full bill—not just the advertised VM price. For prerecorded content, a dedicated cloud playout service can avoid managing a remote desktop.
This guide focuses on Indian-rupee billing and the practical setup. Provider prices and availability can change; check the final checkout terms for your region.
Choose the right operating model
Self-managed cloud PC or Windows VPS
Rent a Windows machine in the cloud, install OBS, provide your video or other production sources, and connect OBS to YouTube Live. This suits creators who need OBS scenes, desktop applications, or hands-on control. It is not an uptime guarantee: the VM, encoder, storage, network path, YouTube ingest, and your recovery process can all interrupt the broadcast.
Hosted playout for prerecorded videos
If your stream consists of uploaded recordings or a playlist, hosted playout may be simpler than maintaining a general-purpose Windows desktop. Check YouTube eligibility and prepare the stream
- Confirm live-stream access. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Start activation well before the time you need to go live. YouTube also states streamers must be at least 16 years old. See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and YouTube Help: Live streaming age requirements.
- Decide what OBS will show. Gather the media files, gameplay or desktop sources, graphics, and audio you plan to use. Make sure your content is appropriate for continuous playback and that you have the rights needed for any video, music, or other material. Check YouTube’s applicable policies; the sources here do not determine whether any specific content is cleared.
- Create or manage the broadcast in Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to configure the stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
Compare the complete rupee cost before renting a VM
A displayed monthly price alone does not tell you whether a service fits a nonstop OBS workload or what you will actually pay. Check the machine type, included Windows licensing, taxes, region availability, storage, outbound traffic or bandwidth limits, backups, and support. A desktop-oriented Cloud PC and a Windows Server VPS are different offerings. Do not treat a provider’s advertised port speed or availability statement as proof of sustained encoding performance.

These are vendor-published examples checked in 2026, not endorsements or tested 24/7 OBS benchmarks. Estimate the monthly total for your intended runtime, including Windows licensing, GST, storage, network or outbound-traffic costs, backups, and support. Confirm that the plan is available to you and that its billing model matches your expected usage.

Install and configure OBS on the cloud machine
- Connect to the Windows machine using the provider’s remote-desktop method. Install OBS from its official website and verify that the VM has enough CPU, memory, storage, and network capacity for your chosen sources and encoder. No specific VM in the examples above has been tested for this workload.
- Run OBS Auto-Configuration Wizard. Use the wizard as a starting point, then choose settings the cloud machine can sustain. OBS can combine sources such as video, images, text, cameras, gameplay, and desktop capture. See the OBS Studio overview.
- Build a scene. In OBS, add the source or sources needed for your broadcast. For prerecorded playback, add the media source and configure it to loop if you want that clip to repeat. For a longer rotation, arrange your playlist or production workflow and confirm that transitions and audio behave as intended.
- Check audio before going live. Play representative content and watch the OBS audio meters. Confirm that the intended audio source is active, audible, and not clipping; make a test recording or private/unlisted test broadcast if appropriate.
- Set encoder output for the VM and connection. Choose the resolution and bitrate based on a sustained upload test, not the VM’s advertised port speed alone. YouTube’s published encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval that does not exceed four seconds. Follow YouTube’s current settings for the exact resolution and bitrate, and test representative motion and sound. YouTube Help: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or manage the stream using YouTube’s encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings into OBS’s stream configuration. Use YouTube’s server URL and the matching key; do not expose the key in a screenshot, recording, public page, or shared configuration. Treat it like a password. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for YouTube to receive the encoder feed and inspect the preview and stream-health feedback in Live Control Room.
- Complete YouTube’s Go live workflow. Starting the encoder sends the feed; follow the on-screen preview and Go live steps in Live Control Room to make the broadcast public as intended.

Test continuity, monitoring, and replay needs
Run a sustained test
Before relying on the setup, run the exact video or scene, resolution, bitrate, and audio you intend to use for an extended test. Monitor OBS and YouTube’s stream-health indicators for dropped frames, interruptions, or unstable ingest. A short successful test does not establish that a VM will encode continuously for days.

Plan for failure and recovery
Decide how you will notice a stopped feed and restart OBS or the VM. A remote desktop session closing is not, by itself, proof that the encoder stopped; check the actual stream. Conversely, a running VM does not prove that OBS is still sending video. The setup depends on several components, so arrange monitoring and a practical recovery procedure instead of assuming continuous uptime.
Consider YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube Help states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That guidance does not promise an archive for a longer continuous stream. If a replay matters, plan around the under-12-hour condition and verify YouTube’s current behavior before relying on a long-running broadcast. Check rights and channel policies
Continuous playback does not make copyrighted music or video safe to use. Confirm that you have the necessary rights and comply with YouTube’s current copyright and channel policies, including any requirements relevant to reused content. The rights status of your specific material cannot be determined here.

- You cannot start the first stream: live access may still be activating. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours; activate and test early.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: check that OBS is using the correct stream URL and key, that the key has not been reset, and that the VM can reach the internet. Re-enter the current credentials from Live Control Room if necessary.
- Stream health is poor or frames drop: lower the resolution or bitrate, check whether the VM is under CPU or network load, and repeat a sustained test. Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations rather than assuming the plan’s port speed equals reliable throughput.
- Video plays but audio is missing or distorted: inspect the correct audio source and OBS meters, check the selected audio encoder, and test with representative content before restarting the broadcast.
- The stream stops after you disconnect: verify whether OBS is still running on the VM and whether the cloud machine or remote session policy is stopping processes. Configure and test the provider’s restart or recovery options where available.
- You expected a replay but do not see one: YouTube’s cited automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours only. For longer broadcasts, do not assume an archive will be created; check current YouTube guidance and make a separate recording plan if needed.
- The checkout total is higher than the advertised amount: verify GST, Windows licensing, storage, backup, network, and billing-period charges, and confirm regional availability before committing.
