If F1 25 online multiplayer will not connect, first check EA and platform service status, then check the game’s cross-play setting or your platform account access before changing your home network. Work through the checks below in order: it helps distinguish a wider outage from an invite mismatch or a connection problem on your own setup.
1. Check EA and platform service status
Start with EA’s live server status page, which includes EA SPORTS F1 25 and platform services. If a relevant service is unavailable, changing your router is unlikely to resolve the outage; check the page again later.
Status can change, so use the live listing when the problem occurs rather than relying on an earlier report.
2. If invites or matchmaking fail, check cross-play
F1 25 cross-play is supported across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In the game, open Settings > Crossplay and set it to Enabled if you want to play across platforms. When cross-play is disabled, EA says you will match only with players on the same platform.

EA lists F1 World, Ranked Mode, Unranked Mode, Local Multiplayer, Leagues, and Custom Lobbies among the modes with cross-play. Check both the service status and this setting when cross-platform invitations or matchmaking are the problem; one does not rule out the other.

3. Confirm your platform and account can play online
- Console subscription: Confirm that the required platform online subscription is active.
- Platform services: Check your console network’s service updates or status.
- Account access: EA says bans or suspensions, a deactivated or deleted account, an account already in use elsewhere, or child-account restrictions can prevent online access.
- PC and Steam: EA directs Steam purchasers to Steam Support for additional connection help.
Use the platform maker’s official instructions if you need to clear the console cache. EA’s general connection guidance covers these account and platform checks at Troubleshoot your connection to EA games.
4. Restart your router and gaming device
- Turn off your router and unplug its power.
- Wait about one minute, then reconnect the power and let the router restart.
- Restart your gaming device and try F1 25 online again.

5. Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If you are playing over Wi-Fi, try an Ethernet connection if one is available. EA says a hardwired connection can be more reliable than wireless and recommends wired broadband where possible. It is a diagnostic test, not a requirement or promise that a disconnect will stop.
If you do not have a cable, you can still work through the Wi-Fi checks below.

6. Improve the Wi-Fi conditions
- Check the router’s indicator lights for connection problems.
- Place the router in an open area and, if practical, closer to your gaming device.
- Consider whether walls, large objects, nearby electronics, or congestion from neighboring networks could be weakening or disrupting the signal.
- Ask your internet service provider for help choosing a less busy Wi-Fi channel if interference seems likely.
7. Treat DNS changes as a later test
EA notes that an unreliable DNS resolver can cause connection problems and names Google DNS and OpenDNS as optional third-party alternatives. EA does not operate either service. Changing DNS is not a guaranteed F1 25 fix, so try it only after the simpler checks and follow the instructions for your router or device.
8. Contact support with details that narrow the problem

- Your platform and the exact error text, if one appears.
- Where the failure happens: at launch, while accepting an invite, in a lobby, or during a race.
- Whether other online games work on the same connection.
- Which checks you have already tried and what happened.
That information helps separate a game-specific or account issue from a broader platform or home-network problem. If other online services also fail, your platform provider or ISP may be the more relevant next contact.
What these checks can—and cannot—identify
EA’s published connection advice is general guidance for EA games, not an F1 25 error-code diagnostic chart. The cited material does not establish a particular NAT-type fix, router-port list, minimum latency, or guaranteed solution for a specific disconnect message. Do not assume that changing NAT settings or forwarding ports is required; use EA support for persistent game-specific issues and your ISP for suspected home-connection trouble.
