To protect your official New York Times Wordle streak while traveling, sign in to your NYT account on the device you plan to use and solve the daily puzzle before midnight in the timezone the game is using. NYT documents syncing progress and streaks across devices, but its help pages do not confirm that daily Wordle works offline or that an offline solve will count after reconnecting. If you may lose internet access, play while connected rather than relying on offline access.
Before you travel: sign in to the account you use for Wordle
NYT recommends signing in to play across devices and retain progress and statistics. When you are logged out, progress is stored locally on that device and may be lost. Before a trip—or before switching phones, tablets, or browsers—sign in to the same NYT account you normally use. NYT’s Wordle help page explains the game and account-related guidance; its Games account help page describes access to progress, statistics, and streaks across devices.
Know which midnight matters
The daily Wordle releases at midnight in your timezone, and the current streak counts consecutive wins only when each puzzle is solved before local midnight. NYT says a solve after midnight breaks the streak and starts a new one. After arriving or changing timezones, check the game’s displayed daily puzzle and cutoff; do not assume your home timezone still governs the deadline. See NYT’s official Wordle timing guidance.
Can you play Wordle offline and sync the result later?
NYT’s official help pages describe the daily game, supported play locations, and account syncing, but do not confirm offline daily play or that an offline solve will update a streak after reconnection. That leaves the behavior unverified; it is not proof that offline play is impossible. Do not count on a cached page or airplane-mode solve to preserve the streak, and do not change your device clock as a workaround.

If you expect to be without reliable internet, the conservative option is to complete the daily puzzle while connected and before the applicable local-midnight cutoff. NYT does not promise that the game can be completed or synced offline. What will—and won’t—count toward the streak
The official Wordle is a daily game with six attempts to guess a five-letter word; NYT says editors curate the daily words using the Oxford Dictionary. Only release-day puzzles count toward the streak. Archive puzzles may affect statistics, but they do not affect current or maximum streaks. If your streak disappears
- Check the active account. Make sure you are signed in to the same NYT account you used before traveling or changing devices.
- Check your statistics again. If the streak is still missing, use Report a Bug in the app or Contact Us on the web, as directed by NYT’s Wordle help page.
- Ask support for help. NYT says a team member may be able to manually restore a streak in some cases; restoration is not guaranteed.
