Is Ace Combat Zero available on PC?
Bandai Namco’s product history lists Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War for PlayStation 2, with a 2006 release. That record does not list a PC edition. The supported PC option described here is to run the PS2 game in the PCSX2 emulator; it is not a native PC installer.
PCSX2’s compatibility database classifies the US release, serial SLUS-21346, as “Playable.” The entry shows its latest testing as version 1.5.0. This is a compatibility classification, not a promise of a particular frame rate or trouble-free performance on every PC, and it applies to the listed US release rather than establishing the status of every regional version. What PC do you need for PCSX2?
The figures below are PCSX2’s published emulator requirements, accessed October 3, 2026. They are not an Ace Combat Zero-specific hardware benchmark. PCSX2 says requirements vary substantially by game, slower hardware may not be playable, and even a CPU meeting only the Moderate tier can struggle with complex PS2 games. Graphics load depends substantially on settings such as upscaling and blending accuracy. Meeting a tier therefore does not guarantee a particular result in this game.

These are the tiers on PCSX2’s requirements page. The page gives broad emulator guidance; it does not claim that a machine at Minimum will run this title at a particular resolution or speed.
What you need before setup
- PCSX2: Get the emulator through its official download page and follow its setup guide.
- A PS2 BIOS: PCSX2 requires a BIOS and says to dump this proprietary software from your own PlayStation 2. Its documentation says there is no open-source alternative. Follow the BIOS guide.
- Your game media: PCSX2 can read a physical game disc directly, or you can make a backup from your own disc with a compatible optical drive. Consult its setup documentation for disc and game-running guidance.
- A controller, if desired: A PC-compatible controller can be mapped to PS2 inputs. PCSX2 does not require a particular model.
How to set up Ace Combat Zero in PCSX2
- Install PCSX2. Use the official distribution and consult the setup guide for its installation and initial configuration steps.
- Provide your PS2 BIOS. Dump it from your own console using PCSX2’s BIOS instructions. The emulator cannot run PS2 games without one.
- Load your game disc or disc backup. PCSX2 supports playing from a physical disc or using a backup made from your own disc with a compatible optical drive. Follow the emulator’s disc and game setup instructions.
- Configure your controller, if using one. Open Settings > Controllers. PCSX2 recommends SDL as a cross-platform input source. Try automatic mapping if your controller is supported; otherwise assign the buttons and analog sticks manually. The documentation says to map the first PS2 port, normally Player 1, first. See the controller guide.
- Check compatibility or troubleshooting guidance if something is wrong. Consult PCSX2’s compatibility entry and official troubleshooting documentation rather than assuming a game-specific fix.
How do the controls work on PC?
PCSX2 maps a controller or other supported input device to the PS2 controller inputs. The setup path is Settings > Controllers; SDL is the recommended cross-platform input source. Automatic mapping may work for supported devices, and manual mapping is available for buttons and analog sticks when it does not.

The exact original Ace Combat Zero button assignments are not established here, so a keyboard map or a claim of mouse-and-keyboard support would be guesswork. Check the manual that came with your game copy for its in-game assignments, then map the corresponding PS2 inputs in PCSX2. Do not assume an emulator’s controller defaults match the game’s flight controls.

PCSX2 offers settings that can affect display quality and graphics workload, but results depend on the game and computer. Its compatibility listing is useful as a starting point, not a guarantee that a given configuration will perform well.

The PCSX2 setup does not change the game’s design. Bandai Namco describes three Ace Styles—Mercenary, Soldier, and Knight—and says mission behavior influences the style assigned after each mission. The style affects reputation, radio dialogue, enemy ace units encountered, and some story-movie presentation, according to the official game page.

The publisher also describes a two-player versus mode with stage, aircraft, special-weapon, and match-setting choices. That is a PS2 game feature; the cited information does not establish online multiplayer or a modern PC network mode.
