They go to Jackbox.tv, enter the room code shown on the host’s screen, and choose a player name. Guests do not need a gamepad, a separate app, or their own copy of the pack. They do need internet access and a way to see the game screen.
Jackbox announced Party Pack 12 for October 15, 2026. The joining instructions below are Jackbox’s general guidance for its games; they are not a post-launch compatibility test of Party Pack 12.
Which devices can players use?
Use a device that can open Jackbox.tv in a supported browser. Typical choices are:
- Phones: iPhone or Android phone with a supported mobile browser.
- Tablets: iPad or Android tablet with a supported browser.
- Computers: laptop or desktop with a supported browser.
Jackbox Games Support describes the general rule as “Any device with a web browser can join one of our games to play!” Its FAQ says players need a smartphone or web-enabled device and do not need an app or additional purchase. See the Jackbox joining guide and official FAQ.

How to join a game
- Wait for the host to launch the game and display the room code on the game screen.
- On your phone, tablet, or computer, open a browser and go to Jackbox.tv.
- Enter the room code and a player name, then join the lobby.
- Use the browser page on your device to submit answers and play.
Jackbox says the browser needs cookies, WebSockets, HTML5, and JavaScript. Its published minimums are general jackbox.tv requirements, not Party Pack 12-specific certifications:

These requirements are listed in Jackbox’s minimum system requirements for Jackbox.tv. An up-to-date browser is a sensible choice if a device has trouble connecting.

The host platform is not the same as a guest’s device
The host runs the purchased game on a supported platform; guests use their own browser devices as controllers. Jackbox’s October 1, 2026 announcement lists Party Pack 12 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, iPad, and Mac App Store. Guests do not need to own one of those host platforms to join. The announcement also lists five new games, each for 2–8 players, and an announced price of $29.99, subject to store, region, and later changes. What players need to see and what the host needs
- Internet access: guests need a connection to reach Jackbox.tv and participate.
- Visibility of the game: players need to read prompts and follow the host’s screen. For remote play, the host can share that screen through a service such as Discord or Zoom; guests still join through Jackbox.tv. Jackbox’s general play guide covers joining and remote play.
- A second controller device for the host: Jackbox says a player cannot enter answers on the same device that is running the game. If the host also wants to play, they should join from a separate browser device.
Does Party Pack 12 require anything unusual?
No special controller or extra purchase for guests is specified in Jackbox’s general joining instructions. The announcement’s optional real-world card purchase feature for We Forgot a Card is a game feature, not a requirement to enter the lobby. Jackbox’s browser requirements page includes extra notes for Party Pack 11 games, but those pack-specific details should not be assumed to apply to Party Pack 12.
