The launch specifications list three performance tiers, each requiring 115 GB of SSD storage. Use the table below to compare your whole PC—not just its graphics card—with the target you want.
Gears of War: E-Day PC system requirements
The Coalition’s final PC specifications were announced on Xbox Wire on September 17, 2026, with an updated specifications image noted on September 28. The table below reproduces the launch targets transcribed by PC Gamer on October 1, 2026. GPU and CPU entries are examples, not a claim that every listed part delivers identical performance.

These are the published tier targets, not guarantees for every PC or every scene. The table’s performance rows include DLSS, FSR, TSR, or XeSS as reconstruction or upscaling options; results depend on the hardware and configuration in use.
Does E-Day require a ray-tracing GPU?
Yes. The requirement note says a hardware ray-tracing-capable graphics card is required and that cards without dedicated hardware ray-tracing support are unsupported. Check the GPU’s actual capabilities rather than relying only on its age or general performance. A GPU that otherwise looks close to one of the listed examples does not meet this stated compatibility condition if it lacks dedicated hardware ray tracing.

The official Xbox Wire technical announcement describes the game as using Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, with hardware ray tracing. It also lists NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, Intel XeSS, and Advanced Shader Delivery on compatible hardware. These features are not guaranteed to be available on every GPU or PC storefront.
How much SSD space does E-Day need?
Every tier lists 115 GB on an SSD. That is a free-space requirement for installation; the published specifications do not name a preferred SSD brand, interface, or larger capacity target. Check the drive where you plan to install the game and make sure at least 115 GB is available there.

How to tell whether your PC meets a target
- Choose the target first. Decide whether you are aiming for the Minimum tier’s 1080p/60 fps, Recommended’s 1440p/60+ fps, or Ultra’s 4K/60+ fps target.
- Check graphics capability and model. Confirm that your graphics card has dedicated hardware ray tracing support, then compare its model and VRAM with the chosen tier’s examples.
- Compare the processor. Match your CPU against the examples in the same tier; a GPU match alone does not establish that the full system meets the target.
- Check memory and storage. Compare installed system RAM and graphics memory with the tier, and confirm 115 GB of free capacity on an SSD.
- Treat upscaling as an option, not a promise. The game lists several reconstruction technologies, but compatibility and availability vary. The published target does not guarantee a particular frame rate on every system.
What to upgrade—and when
If your graphics card lacks hardware ray tracing
That is the clearest incompatibility against the published requirements. Look for a ray-tracing-capable GPU and choose among the listed examples according to your intended resolution and preset. The requirements do not establish current prices, value rankings, or a performance comparison across every listed card, so the tier is a compatibility reference rather than a value recommendation.
If your GPU is close but another component falls short
Compare the CPU, VRAM, system RAM, and SSD capacity together before buying. For example, meeting a tier’s GPU example does not make a PC a match if it misses the listed processor, memory, or storage figures. Upgrade the specific shortfall that blocks your intended target instead of assuming a graphics-card upgrade alone will solve it.

If you need more SSD capacity
An internal SSD is relevant if your PC lacks a suitable drive or cannot free 115 GB on its current SSD. The published requirement does not specify a particular drive interface, brand, or capacity beyond the space needed for the game.
If several parts miss the target
Compare the cost and practicality of upgrading multiple components with replacing the system. A gaming desktop or laptop may be more sensible when several listed requirements are out of reach, but check the exact CPU, GPU, dedicated ray-tracing capability, RAM, VRAM, and SSD configuration before choosing a complete PC.

What independent testing can—and cannot—tell you
Tom’s Hardware’s October 1, 2026 report found clear CPU scaling in its tested pool. It also noted that the built-in benchmark approximated its gameplay scene but did not match it exactly. Those are outlet-specific test findings, useful for understanding that CPU choice can affect performance, but they do not establish universal results for every processor or configuration.
