What PC adds—and what it does not guarantee
The PC release arrived on September 19, 2024, after the PS5 and PS4 release on November 9, 2022. Jetpack Interactive partnered on the PC version. Its feature set includes unlocked frame rates, compatible-device 4K output, 21:9 and 32:9 display support, and upscaling technologies from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. PlayStation named DLSS 3.7, FSR 3.1, and XeSS 1.3, including frame generation where supported by the relevant technology and hardware. PlayStation’s PC announcement
These options give PC players more control, not an automatic performance advantage. A particular PC’s results depend on its components, resolution, graphics settings, drivers, display, and game updates. The listed targets below are publisher averages at native resolution without upscaling, not guarantees for every scene or every computer.
Official PC performance targets and requirements
PlayStation’s August 8, 2024 specification lists five target tiers. It states that the average frame rates below use native resolution without upscaling; treat them as dated publisher targets, not independent benchmark results.

Every tier lists Windows 10 64-bit and a 190 GB SSD. Check the full PC requirements from PlayStation against your actual components and storage before buying. If your hardware falls between tiers, the table alone cannot predict your frame rate.
PS5 performance and DualSense
PlayStation’s hands-on PS5 article describes 4K visuals and fluid frame rates while the author played in Performance mode. It also highlights DualSense haptics for traversal and combat, as well as adaptive-trigger sensations. That supports choosing PS5 for a streamlined console experience and controller feel, but it is not a numeric resolution-and-frame-rate specification for each PS5 mode. There is not enough directly comparable information here to declare that PS5 or a specific PC configuration runs the game better. Compare the PC target for your hardware with your own desired settings rather than treating the PC feature list as a performance ranking.
Content, accessibility, and PSN account policy
Included content and settings
The PC release announcement says the PC version includes New Game+ and Valhalla. The PC launch also introduced reduced puzzle hints and cinematic audio description settings; PlayStation said these would soon be added to console. PlayStation’s PC launch article

Accessibility is not exclusive to PC. PlayStation describes more than 60 accessibility options for the PS4 and PS5 versions, including subtitle and caption customization, controller remapping, high-contrast modes, and gameplay adjustments. PSN is optional on PC
PlayStation’s January 29, 2025 announcement says a PlayStation Network account is optional for God of War Ragnarök on PC. Signing in is described as providing account-related benefits, including trophies and friend management, along with an in-game armor set and resource bundle. Which version should you choose?
Choose PS5 if…
- You already own a PS5 and want to play without comparing PC components or tuning graphics settings.
- You value the DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers PlayStation highlights.
- You prefer a fixed console setup over choosing resolution, upscaling, and frame-rate settings.
Choose PC if…
- Your current computer meets the publisher’s target for the resolution and settings you want.
- You specifically want unlocked frame rates, DLSS, FSR, or XeSS options, or a 21:9 or 32:9 display.
- You want to configure the game around your hardware and display, and accept that performance varies by setup.
If you would need to buy hardware
Compare the full cost of the PC and display you want with the cost of playing on a console you already own. The publisher’s 1440p and 4K targets call for comparatively capable listed graphics cards; the game does not make an otherwise unnecessary PC upgrade worthwhile by itself. Current street prices and sale comparisons are not established here, so use current local prices for that decision.
