Report suspected gold-selling or real-money trading (RMT) through WoW’s in-game player-reporting tool, choosing the closest available category, such as cheating or inappropriate advertising. Describe what you actually saw—such as a sales message, unsolicited gold, or a different character delivering gold—and include names, realm, and approximate time. Those details can help Blizzard review a report, but they do not prove that a player broke the rules.
Where to report suspected gold selling
For a suspected gold seller, prohibited sales advertisement, or related cheating, use the in-game player-reporting tool. Select the closest category available in your client; menu labels and report steps may vary by version, so avoid relying on a universal right-click path.
Blizzard Support lists guidance for reporting cheating and inappropriate in-game advertising. The appropriate route for an ordinary suspected seller is the in-game report flow, rather than a support ticket intended for ongoing harassment. Blizzard Support: reporting guidance.
What to include in the report
Stick to specific, firsthand observations. Useful details include:
#1 Best Overall
- The character name and realm of the player involved, if visible.
- The approximate date and time, and where the interaction occurred.
- The exact nature of the offer or advertisement, including relevant chat wording.
- Any unusual delivery arrangement, such as receiving unsolicited gold or a different character delivering it from the one that arranged the transaction.
Blizzard identifies unsolicited gold and a delivery character different from the one that arranged a transaction as possible deceptive tactics. Treat them as details to report, not as proof of guilt: Blizzard must assess the circumstances.
When to use the harassment support-ticket route
If the problem is ongoing harassment, Blizzard documents a separate support-ticket workflow: Support > Contact Support > In-Game Issues > Report a Player > Ongoing Harassment. Provide the character names, realm, time frame, and relevant details. This route is specifically for continuing harassment; for a suspected gold seller without ongoing harassment, use the in-game report tool.

Blizzard says it may notify a reported player that they were reported, but does not reveal the reporter’s identity. It also does not share investigation findings with other players. Blizzard Support: ongoing harassment.
What not to do while you report
- Do not threaten, confront, or try to investigate the suspected seller yourself.
- Do not click external sales links or provide account credentials.
- Do not accept unexplained gold as a way to test a suspicion. Record what happened and report it through the game.
Blizzard says buying third-party gold is risky and harmful, supports malicious activity, and violates its End User License Agreement. Its July 30, 2025 policy post warns that transactions supporting gold sellers can result in gold removal and permanent account suspension. If you suspect your own account was compromised
A suspicious gold delivery or transaction tied to your account may be a security issue as well as a player-reporting issue. Follow Blizzard’s account-recovery guidance: secure your computer and submit an account-recovery ticket. Blizzard also recommends adding an authenticator. Do not use third-party gold services; the WoW Token is Blizzard’s sanctioned gold-and-game-time exchange mechanism where available. Blizzard account-recovery guidance and WoW Token announcement.

Blizzard’s October 1, 2026 announcement about WoW: Forever said it had acted against botting accounts and accounts found to have purchased or knowingly received illicit gold during the beta, and would continue enforcement after launch. It said accounts involved in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold could have gold removed, be suspended, or be permanently closed. That announcement is specific to WoW: Forever; it should not be read as a statement that a newly announced warning for trading with strangers is already live across all WoW versions.
