- Controls and readability: If camera movement feels reversed while possessing a character, check for the documented invert-camera option. Adjust HUD scale under Misc in the main menu if the interface is hard to read.
The official sources do not publish a complete graphics-menu inventory for version 2.0, a current default control map, or tested settings for particular GPUs. 22cans documented resolution choices with fullscreen-exclusive support in its Update 1.1 notes. Those notes establish that the options were added, not the exact choices or display-mode menus available in every current installation. Check the options shown in your installed version rather than assuming a particular menu path.
How do I improve FPS in Masters of Albion?
- Check your hardware against Steam’s published requirements. The minimum tier is a baseline, not a promise of stable performance. The recommended tier is also not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or quality setting.
- Use the current defaults as your comparison point. Choose a repeatable scene, then note how smooth it feels and whether image detail and text remain comfortable to read.
- Lower one available graphics-quality option at a time. The official notes reviewed here do not list every current version 2.0 option, so use the controls actually shown in your game rather than relying on assumed settings.
- If needed, reduce resolution one step. Compare the same scene again and decide whether the performance change is worth the loss of sharpness.
- Keep the change only if it improves your experience. Repeat the comparison after each single adjustment; avoid changing several settings together, which makes the result harder to assess.

What the New Beginnings performance claim means
In its New Beginnings notes dated 2026-10-01, 22cans said it moved the game to a more efficient, completely different rendering system and rebuilt or converted every in-game asset. The developer reported “up to double the frame rate” in its own tests, alongside improved stability and responsiveness, while explicitly stating that gains vary with hardware, resolution and graphics settings. It did not publish benchmark hardware, scenes or average frame rates in those notes, so the figure is not a guaranteed result for an individual PC.
The same notes scheduled a further performance update for roughly two weeks later. The cited official notes do not establish whether that follow-up has shipped, so check newer official update notes for the current status.

Can I change the controls or invert the camera?
22cans’ Update 1.1 notes confirm an option to invert camera controls while in Possession mode. If camera direction feels wrong while controlling a character, look for that option in your installed version. The notes do not establish a complete current key-binding map or confirm full control remapping, so do not assume every input can be changed.
How can I make the HUD easier to read?
The New Beginnings notes say the main HUD scale is adjustable under Misc in the main menu. Increase or decrease it to suit your display and viewing distance; this changes interface size, not graphics performance.

What should I know about version 2.0?
New Beginnings is the version 2.0 update. 22cans says a new save is required for version 2.0 and that version 1.4 saves cannot be loaded in 2.0. The developer also states that the game remains in Early Access, so performance and menu options may change with updates.
